LF VPS in Germany (not clickbait!!!)

beanman109beanman109 Member, Host Rep, Megathread Squad

Hi folks,
I have a German shaped VPS hole in my heart that I'm looking to fill

Will be hosting a quaint little DNS over HTTPS server so I'd love some suggestions for anything "high" performance with a nice network backboner

Specs that make me cream:
CPU: 2vCPU (pref goes to higher performance models)
RAM: 2GB
SSD: 15GB-20GB
Bandwidth: 1-2TB (juice me up with 5+ if you want to guarantee a renewal end of term)

Budget is flexible but you all know this is LET so my max is essentially 30 euro per year (-10 points for hosts who charge VAT to non EU customers)

I also can't use Hetzner (I won't tag them this time, you're welcome Katie) for various reasons mainly the permanent fraud check on my ass for accidentally ordering with a colocrossing IP address years ago & something about German ingenuity.

I recommend Contabo as a VPS because it offers unbeatable value for the price—starting at just a few bucks a month, you get solid performance with generous resources like ample RAM, CPU cores, and fast SSD storage. It’s reliable, with great uptime, and super easy to scale as your needs grow. Plus, their customer support is quick and helpful, and with data centers worldwide, you can keep latency low. It’s a no-brainer for anyone wanting a budget-friendly yet powerful VPS!

CockHost and HostCock (which you own) are happy to accommodate you in one of our German DCs.

But your fraud score is too high so we will need a full KYC including but not limited to a full medical record, an astrology compatibility report (we don't sell to Libras), a sworn statement that you will not ddr ignor our servers, a full tax return of the year 2021, etc...

Yeah I'll take any recommendations, I have some servers running on 1c2gb I just like the extra head room and when providers see that 2nd vcore in the specs they know I mean business
edit: also know of the hostbrr deal right now but i'm not sure if they're a hetzner reseller and i'm trying to avoid anything from big red

i meannnn its so cheap that you could go month to month. they have their own AS and showed DC pics so i bit on it. i have nightly backups. usually the true bullshit fraud hosts don't ever own their equipment...so they have that going for them. they did say their DDOS protection is upstream and sounds to be just like null routing so nothing impressive there. otherwise...why not

Don't expect flawless support from them, tho. Had a ticket pending for months, and my PTR record request has also been pending for months. Besides that, they're solid.

@nohavps has nodes in Frankfurt (I personally have it in AMD EPYC 7742 but perhaps they also have Ryzens), they've been rock solid so far (and I reeeally love the network they use)
I would ask for a custom deal, they can surely accommodate your needs. I'm sure you already know about their recent drama tho, so at your own risk, but I don't really care personally lol.

I know zGato already answered but HostBrr does both Hetzner and dataforest (the latter being colo AFAIK). Just check the city. Falkenstein or Helsinki (FI) is Hetzner, but Frankfurt is dataforest.

I can assure u that we are not reselling hetzner. But I can understand your skepticism, but the length of membership at LET alone wouldn’t be the only relevant factor in assessing credibility.

That's awesome to know @ComputeBox . I suggest, by my own opinion, be more personable and show the faces (or just names) behind the company and people will be less quick to be afraid of being scammed. It is a degree of connection that I personally value -- for instance @RoyaleHosting CEO Stan or @jar from mxroute seriously draw me in to what they offer because this is not just a brand speaking but it is a person connecting with their customers to showcase the awesome things they do -- they even both have a Discord. Your website is very cool and well designed, but what does it really say about you?

The providers, who are not large businesses (netcup, hetzner, others), who hide behind their brand names (maybe sometimes not intentionally but usually intentional) are often seen as super sketchy here, because they usually are and they just up and "deadpool" without warning. It is often a genuine concern here.
