vanilla forums (free version) is deprecated and no more. So @jbiloh you better think about that, until major security breach happens. And I do believe, that competition looking for this very actively.
Don't use what LET is using, it's outdated instead fiddle with flarum or discourse or maybe code your own.

Use this on your favorite search engine to search:

That will search only on this forum and it's great.

That may not work for all threads. Eg: the threads that require authentication.
I think it would be better to host a search server that indexes threads and comments from here. Maybe meilisearch?
