For existing users: Let me know your best data recovery story or how you set up your backups in the comments and we'll DM you a 20% off coupon for renewal within a day.
Other things BorgBase is doing that sets us apart:
- In-house support that will usually help with even the most detailed backup-related questions.
- We maintain Vorta, an easy-to-use backup client for macOS and Linux.
- We sponsor the Borg project itself and will match any donation you make to the project on our checkout page.
- We regularly participate in Google's Summer of Code program, which pays $3000 to new open source contributors for working on Borg-related projects. If you have at least an intermediate Python proficiency, check out the ideas page.
- We continue to sponsor related projects, like Borgmatic to keep the eco system healthy in the long run.
Happy World Backup Day and always encrypt your backups! 😉

Comments
At least two backups is always a good plan! I'm using multiple backup methods to minimize the risks of corrupt/incomplete backups. Borg is one of them, which is configured as append-only, so that in case of hacks, etc. the backups are safe. So, in the light of world backup day: it is a good idea to use read-only / append-only backups. Borgbase offers server-base auto-compaction to delete old backups, which means you hardly have to look after things.
I like this, thank you for supporting open source projects!
Does this have a limit of 10 repos? Any chance we can get more?
What payment methods are available?
Thanks for sharing, i will give it a try just signed up
Yes, we have a Small Plan with more repos, if you need it. Same price, I believe. Just write support and they will change it for you.
Credit card, PayPal, Crypto (most stable coins via Coinbase Commerce) and local bank transfer (EUR and USD only).
for what it's worth, I'm a happy customer for my smaller backups - it's the price of a few beers a year to have extremely easy backups of config and home directories etc.
I went with Borg, running from systemd, using Linux capabilities to do full-system backups without having to run Borg itself as root: https://borgbackup.readthedocs.io/en/stable/deployment/non-root-user.html
a feature people might not appreciate until they have it is automatic emails to tell you if it hasn't seen new data for configurable N days - easy enough to configure yourself, but when hosting things yourself, will you definitely remember for every single backup repo?
Thanks, sounds good. Can you please confirm how many repos we will get on that plan and if the price is the same?
Discounted price is ongoing, or first year only?
TIA
@m4nu - can you please clarify? I'm looking to sign up, and give up on another provider if the discounted price is ongoing
The coupon is good for the first year, but we regularly have promos for Backup Day.
Thanks for Vorta. Its very helpful for the non-command line folks.
Perhaps, but those will most likely be for new paying customers only (which I won't be by then)
Not really. If you check my past threads, there is always something for existing users too.
Hi
Fortunately, I have never had to resort to data recovery with BorgBackup. But here too, it's “better to have than to need”.
During my small, private projects, the mini server usually backs up my current data to BorgBase via BorgBackup every night.
I do the same with my cloud server from the Internet. A Rasperry Pi 3 fetches the data from my mother's NAS via NFS and also backs it up to BorgBase in the morning via cronjob and BorgBackup.
Thank you for your 10 GB free plan
Existing customer, I use UnRaid and backup my most important data to Borgbase, as well as a secondary provider. From my UnRaid configuration as well as my important documents/files. The 250GB data plan is perfect for my needs. It's really simple, there is a docker image from b3vis/borgmatic and very simple configuration/setup. Lots of guides floating around if you want to also set this up, and it doesn't have to be an unraid or docker image, it could also just be any linux based distro or even windows with WSL. Best rule of thumb is to have 2 offsite backups for your critical data, and borgbase fits the bill for 1 of those backups.
Existing customer, I use borgmatic docker to backup my home folder, iCloud Photos, and postgresql. Hopefully this eligible to claim 20% off coupon, thanks @m4nu
I missed this by some time, any chance you have other offers?
Even with coupon it more expensive than google one, what do I need you for?
Let them scan my files and sell ads who gives a shit
Quite a few people, that's why this service exists.
@m4nu Does vorta support remote-path option?
I believe it does. You can add your own arguments to
borg create.Nice, but I don't see a way for list, prune, compact
For people who stumbled here, looking for to provide extra argument like --remote-path for list, prune, compact.
What I ended up finding out is you can
1. copy down how you connect to the remote repo(URL, password, and ssh key used)
2. disconnect the repo (not delete)
3. reconnect with your copied info, but go to the Advanced tab and add extra argument that you need.
And then all borg calls should use the extra argument.
@m4nu - any chance the 30% off is offered for renewals in 2026? World Backup Day is only a few short days away
Honestly, with current HDD prices this year's promo may be smaller. 😬
Well then... so may be the chance of a renewal
It didn't apply to renewals so whether the new sign-up promo is 10% or 30% doesn't effect your renewal price.
