looking for decently powerful vps/dedi in eastern US
hey all,
i currently pay $30 monthly for an intel special from reliablesite. it works perfectly and i really like it. however i was just wondering if there would be anything comparable that works for me and is a bit cheaper. here are my requirements:
- 4+ cores (amd cpu preferred)
- 16gb+ ram
- 500gb+ ssd (or a smaller ssd with hdd included within budget)
- 1gbps+ at 10tb+ with no overage charge (unmetered preferred)
- ddos protection
- US east location (miami specifically is preferred)
- 1 ipv4 and a /64 ipv6
- actually good reliability/uptime
my new budget is $25/month. thanks!!

Bonus 512GB NVMe if you buy it during their promo period (expected around easter this year).
Hello,
We have this dedicated server, if you're interested.
i checked and that's actually a great deal. i also checked their arm vps and the value is actually insane, and the faster network is a great bonus. my dedi did renew like a week ago so i'll definitely just wait until easter to see if that extra nvme deal pops up. thanks !!
above my budget, and utah is western US. thanks anyway
I don't know how sensitive you are to downtime, but I have two Netcup VPSes in Virginia, and in the past two months they've both had some outages. Most were only a few minutes, but one of the servers had a hardware issue which caused over an hour of downtime. The same VPS had been having network issues that resulted in multiple downtime alerts a day totaling 10-40 minutes of downtime per day over 3-4 days.
You never know when issues will come up and it's expected to have some downtime, but I'd gotten used to the impeccable uptime of my Hetzner VPSes, which have had 100% availability for years. Hopefully this is an anomaly for Netcup. The VPSes were 100% for several months before now.
for my usecases, i would likely notice the downtime depending on the time of day, but it wont really be used for any absolutely critical things. i could definitely deal with a few minutes every now and then.
yeah, definitely sounds like an anomaly. i wouldnt count on that being normal considering the perfect uptime before that. thanks for letting me know though, thats 100% good to keep in mind
Do you like the service so far? Why the looking for change? Many others have complained about service issues. How about you?
with reliablesite? absolutely zero issues, im just looking to save some money. i'm curious though, what are people saying? it's been nothing but perfect 100% uptime since i got the server and everything works
Don’t worry about it. Most people only comment when upset. Good to hear something good in balance.

doesn't meet storage, ipv6, bandwidth, nor location requirement, but thanks
the cheapest option would be some Xeon E5 DDR3 unmetered VPS and mounted storage elsewhere. Should be possible at half your budget.
@AlexPads
so then accessing it over the internet? i'm not really using it as like a backup site, but i'll be hosting files on it that i need ddl for. not sure how easy that would be to make work or even how latency-friendly it would be. i'm waiting for the netcup deal to see how well that will work out
