HYEHOST Closing shop in 4 out of 6 locations

kaitkait Member

This week, Aaran Perry, the sole key holder of HYEHOST, got detained under section 3 (If you have a mental disorder you need to be detained for you own health or for the protection of others). As the only person with full access this doesn't sound great at all.

Today they announced that Aaran is doing oke but has a "bit" of a recovery ahead of him. This will result in their IPv4 Tunnel offerings being discontinued entirely. They are also planning to close down 4 of their 6 locations including Frankfurt, London and Toronto in 15 days and Amsterdam only in 7.

As Backbone Direct mentioned here, he would keep the nodes online for 10 more days to allow customers time to create backups. Why only 10? Are there unpayed bills, how many months of unpayed bills? Is this the same case for other locations that are closing down?

To anyone seeking a replacement they posted alternatives in the announcement: I don't know who would be a good replacement for London but I know @Chunkserve is behind Backbone Direct in Amsterdam and it looks like he offers BGP according to him having some hobbynet downstreams.

Announcement Archive

I would also love to know what happened with PSEHOST (operated by Aaran from 2012 till 2014) and PIOHOST (operated by Aaran from 2016 till 2018).

The word on the blockchain is that they've been due for like 3-ish months. I'm surprised the power hasn't been cut off long ago.

I can see where this discussion is going to end up because this is LET.

Let’s try and keep this thread about helping people find replacement services.

Hope Aaran is ok. I’d hope no one here wants to make it an even more stressful situation.

    Hello all,

This can be taken as an official response as I do work for HYEHOST (I am also personally a very close friend to Aaran and I have spoke to him about what to do)

I won't comment on what is true or not true I am personally here more so to confirm some things specifically for the company

Yes there is bills but this does not mean they will not be paid, I won't comment on what is owed regardless of location but I have reached out to all the people and companies who provide us service and we (being HYEHOST) have and are arranging all invoices will be paid, we are also issuing refunds for everyone who is affected and even people who wish to move due to recent announcements so no one will be out of pocket, of course it's not great for people to have to move to new providers and this is the part I thought being honest about the situation would help people understand why things are happening however I see that I likely said to much without realising the size of the customer base and sharing someone's personal life.

Please be assured that this is not what I wanted to do but I personally want to keep some of what my friend and I have built, the closures are being done to ensure that we can continue to offer some of what he has built, I completely understand for those who are affected this is a major headache and I can only apologise personally.

I know that not everyone will agree with how I am handling things and this is fine I can take the feedback good or bad.

To what I shared about Aarans mental health please know I said this in a time I was personally trying to make sure my friend is OK and I may have said more then I should have, I have spoke to him and he has allowed me to at least share some information but I won't elaborate more then I say now nor will I reply to it.

Aaran was initially taken to Hospital early Monday, unfortunately due to previous issues and current ones that caused this he has been sectioned, I will not confirm what section etc as I have since been asked not to but this is not the first time this has happened, please note the section was after he was initially treated in hospital, please don't speculate and argue over this.

As a company I have already started issuing refunds for customers and replying to tickets, I will continue to do so as people request them.

To the user who recently had a terrible experience, I do not have a reason for why Aaran was so dismissive and I cam assure you normally he is very friendly and professional, I can only apologise, I believe I have already issued the refund for your service but if I havnt please let me know and I will do this for you, while I cannot give you back the time and hassle I hope at least I can make good the refunds, I would also like to say that I had no idea of this forum and the discussion going on until today where a friend of Aarans reached out to me about it, at this point I had already sent out emails and plans etc

I understand Aaran is not going to be to all people's tastes which is fine however I hope this post will at least help clear up some things

For Amsterdam Chunkserve is directly behind backbone direct, for Frankfurt there is ifog but London and Toronto I have no idea who is good.

Don't even listen to any of the "bad" feedback you may receive. You're stepping up big when it matters and that's a good friend, no matter which way you cut it.

From what I read, you did an excellent job explaining the situation, didn't offer up any excuses and you're doing everything you can to get the situation handled - what else can anyone ask for?

Hope your buddy Aaran gets well soon! With friends like you, I'd imagine that will be the case sooner than later.

now i'm curious, what did they do? i personally don't like the owner cause he seems like a bit of a dick, but they seem to have a reasonably ok network in toronto.
