Dementia is a bitch, we (the family) started seeing some signs in my own grandma shortly before she passed away. I hope you are still able to cherish the good memories you've had with her, even if she currently might not be able to.
Nice to read some of the stories, but also painful to see the need for help, and presents the reality that every person will eventually need help from others, no matter how powerful they may be during most of their lives.
This thread also, in a way, encourages people to be closer to their elders in the family or be nicer to people in need or in general.
I just hope that most of the good deeds mentioned here in this thread actually happened.
I agree, and I would like to believe that they have indeed happened. A lot of the LET user base comes from impoverished regions (WHICH IS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF!) so some of the stories are 100% plausible at least if you look at it from the point of view of the East Asian, and South-East Asian culture, even African, and making sure that no single person goes hungry, especially the children, and the elderly.
Regarding these types of threads getting us closer to our families, I 100% believe it, and I think, regardless of where you are in life right now, you should, if possible, pay it forward, and put the resources that you do not need to those that may need them.
Not as any type of promotion, or an ego thing, just as a simple logical conclusion: If I do not need it, and will not make any use of it, then why not let someone else have a try at it? It certainly can't hurt.
