  • I am currently using MyW's lifetime production, which I utilize as my domain email service with light usage.

In the event that Jar announces the discontinuation of MyW services, I hope there could be an exclusive discount offered. I would be more than happy to migrate to MxRoute and switch to an annual payment plan.

    1. Jar did announce an announcement of discontinuation.
    2. No discount. There will be a shutdown according to the announcement of an announcement.
    3. No migration. MXRoute is for email, it is not a hosting for websites.
    4. BACKUP YOUR DATA as soon as possible! MyW is not a "lifetime production" for quite a while now. It is kept online out of politeness.
    5. Offers already started appearing from vaarious providers. Simply check LET threads. More offers are likely to appear as we get closer to Easter this year (in a few weeks).

Agree with you about letting jar talk for himself but I think it's a done deal. He said he's gonna do it not the less definitivel "I should.." or "I think ..." Sounds like he just has to figure out the announcement verbage and set a date.

I mean, I guess, but I wouldn't expect a migration promotion from MyW to MXRoute.

I'm picturing the MyW refugees logging into their MXRoute accounts and opening tickets: "can't install WordPress", "website redirects to DA login",...

I can’t imagine anyone, besides @jar, who would be willing to burn money just to save the day.

The fact users got extra time and haven’t paid a cent extra is remarkable in itself. At least this time they have notice to move - if they haven’t already.

I’m absolutely shutting it down, to be clear. I don’t know when, but the longer I take to figure it out the more likely it is to push the date back. It would take a lot for me to turn something off without excessive notice.

@jar hehehe obviously if you take more time... it will take more time, at least for my part, whatever happens, it's all good...

  • In conclusion: @MikePT thanks you all for your donations to his pyramid scheme. He’s very sorry and never could have seen this coming.

By the way, if you’re feeling generous, Mike’s cousin’s aunty has a dog that’s in need of money right now.

Got a link to that lifetime plan for the dog?

I am guessing the lifetime of that hosting plan is the lifetime of auntie's dog.

    You are right.

I used to believe that lifetime products truly meant "lifetime". Then MyW taught me a hard lesson.

    It’s like $10 let’s not be dramatic

But still Mike is absolutely a scammer, buddy was renting IPv4 addresses monthly and selling them lifetime 💀

€15, cheapest lifetime plan, the money is not much. But I had only been using it for a few months at the time.
By the way, the translation software made my tone more serious.

Yes, I get it, @MikePT set false expectations and your upset. It’s understandable.

Next time try for cheap monthly or annual payments.

  • Lifetime then lasted just under 5 years and we lost two “Reseller Advanced Lifetime” accounts for 280€. The lost money is not bad, what is annoying is the time and changeover for customers. Everything can be switched off because of me, we have already moved. As long as it worked, it was a good time. All the best for the future.

It it what it is. 🤷‍♂️

@MikePT is probably considered veteran royalty around these parts, and personally I've heard nothing but good things. However, any sane person viewing the plans and marketing could predict the end result.

It worked until it didn't, and perhaps had @MikePT not been unemployed the ride may have continued for a while longer. At the end of the day @jar provided a lifeline, which is to be commended, and customers now have excessive notice to move.

Not sure what being a veteran around here is supposed to mean. It’s pretty sketchy around here nowadays.

I mean, you’re considered respected here if you sell your “privacy”/piracy-oriented brand & customers data to your equally sketchy Middle Eastern habibi and try to keep it a secret for more than a year; then make an announcement talking about how you’ll still be involved and the next post is about how your trying to outsource customer support.

Equally, you could be a serial swatter and all you have to do is run a few giveaways and people forget quickly.

@MikePT spent essentially his entire time making excuses on this thread instead of owning up to running an unsustainable pyramid scheme that relied on constantly selling more lifetime offers to sustain his brand. Almost always accompanied by a reason why he needed a money. He was a moderator here at the time even. It’s disgusting. A scammer is a scammer.

But yes, it is what it is. And Mike got away with it. And people will continue scamming on here, just as people (myself included) commented about the flags surrounding Mike long before he got his last victim from LET.

I decided on July 1st. Given that it’s being neglected, will continue to be, and that most users with anything of value will have moved out already, I’m letting her go. Everyone had these super high expectations for it, always saying things like “We want it to be online” and stuff. I prevented a shutdown so quick that no one had time to get data out, and I’ve provided enough time for those remaining to move their data out. My conscience is satisfied.

Even though I am not a customer of MyW, I really appreciate you helping out <3 & I really love that you took so much effort on taking care of something like your own

Keep up the good work  I am sure all the members of LET are proud of you <3

I think it’s best that people get their data removed rather than passed on again. I don’t think playing hot potato with people’s data nets positive results overall. It does suck for people who purchased a lifetime plan toward the end of them, but I can’t allow myself to get too caught up in that. It’s not any more fair to them that I’m giving them my bare minimum with no end to it in sight.

We appreciate that. Nobody likes having their data passed on to some unknown entity.

Also, would you consider @agxl suggestion or is a shutdown confirmed? If so, any estimated time for the shutdown (I know you mentioned that there will be ample time to move away, just looking for an estimate)?

    Thanks

I’d like to emphasize once again that there seems to be a misunderstanding here. The potential "takeover" does not mean purchasing user data.

First of all, MyW (WNDP - WebNegócio Lda.) is a Portuguese company and therefore subject to the strict European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means a standard acquisition would be "nearly impossible" for legal reasons related to data protection.

My idea was simply to cover the server costs through a "server maintenance bridging fee" paid by the remaining customers. These customers would have to actively agree to this; otherwise, their accounts would be terminated and deleted. A contract could be drafted to clearly define these terms, while MyW would retain control. Additionally, multiple volunteer administrators would help reduce @MikePT Miguel's workload.

This would turn into a "server community" or a "cost-sharing server." Since starting everything from scratch would be much more complicated, it makes sense to build upon what Miguel has already created. There are likely still existing license and provider contracts that would be far more expensive if signed today.

I’m interested in this, and I believe there are others in the community who would be as well. It wouldn’t generate any profit — at least not yet — but who needs profit anyway.

So, I would be willing to work something out. If you, @jar, @MikePT, etc., are interested, feel free to contact me.

Lifetime plans are impossible to sustain!!!

Many need to understand the costs and put themselves in the provider's shoes. From what I see, the owner quit because he couldn't pay for his servers anymore due to personal issues and left his clients stranded. Then I saw another provider do the favor so they wouldn't lose data. Then I saw the main owner criticize other providers knowing that his business wasn't sustainable.

I think they should start migrating to other providers, but remember that plans of $1 or $2 a month aren't sustainable. There are several companies that offer that and last 3 months, take your money, and then leave!

Jar mxroute is losing money. Many customers only criticize for a plan, knowing that the plan they criticize doesn't even have important data. They're just trying to get attention!

I remember @MikePT when they had problems he didn't answer because he was busy or had problems, then he abandoned the business and has enough time to criticize or talk about other providers when his business went bankrupt due to incorrect plans!!

Only if you’re not subsidizing them with recurring revenue that greatly exceeds the cost to subsidize them.
