is this good for solely sync photo from mobile or there's others apps you're using too?
photo sync since Google is doing a crack down on my turkey payments. Otherwise I'm just using a mixture of nextcloud and personal Google Drive (free tier), don't really access other type of files from mobile that often.

what kind of big files do you access from mobile, that isn't enough with google drive free-tier though @Blembim? Just checked my uni one and it's also barely at 30GB.

Hmm... We are kind of in the same boat. I stopped the running job for Google Photos -> Immich, and it's only about 1200 files so far (8%), but it does look polished and work smooth. Set up some hourly back-ups to random places and I think it's a go for me, especially since my phone will have most of the recent photos.
the only thing i know from immich is that it dosent work well with other apps (like reverse proxies, auth providers etc)
what did you grab? vds?
4GB in LA to try out some rclone mount, but gave up. Immich was a breeze to set it up with caddy, so not sure if the issues you mention are still there.
I think I'll prepare a room with the romanian sisters, and check if the latency is a big factor. I'll probably just come back to Google though...
