Is it only me that my Genoa VPS wasn't taken offline during the 2-hour maintenance the other day as stated in the email? It's been up and running normally. No downtime detected either.

That just means that you had been one of the few customers that were migrated away from the ceph environment, as stated in the incident report

    Will you call that lucky?

I'm hosted with Christ and was also put away from CEPH.

I guess you could say that :)

But a lot in the end really depended on our experience with running CEPH and made efforts as well as competitors helping us out with storage via NFS.

I only slept 7 hours in 3 days starting from friday until monday and lost 3,5kg of weight :D
But as no data has been lost and as we managed to keep downtime short i am happy with the outcome

Yup, it surprised me that it has been online while there were some people saying theirs were offline. I'm using my PH24 VPS in production for the long term. They're one of my top favorite providers.

My two VPSes were online all the time as well.

By the way, it's nice to see a properly written RFO/Incident Report once in a while. Most hosts don't know how to do that anymore or just feel like clients don't care about what went wrong and the steps that were taken to fix the issue. Well, some do care.

  • My vps also survived the whole incident :)

Very happy with the transparent communication from @ProHosting24 and @PrepaidHost

Appreciate the detailed incident report as well. Shit happens some times, just deal with it and learn from it. (which both has been done by the providers!)

    Totally agree

    Well documented incident
And one of the best vps I have

  • To be honest, it wasn't just a incident report but to me it felt like a proper documentation and little bit wiki.

It intrigued me and I started to read more about CEPH.

Thanks to all of you for leaving us some positive feedback.
It is worth a lot after going through such an extremely distressing period for days

Always happy to see new people join the ceph community, feel free to hmu on arising questions

Just wondering why do some machines in yabs show Host: Nicolas Janzen and North Rhine-Westphalia while others show Host: Prohosting24 and Frankfurth am Main?

Is it actually physical difference or just because of different IP ranges?

Of course I understand the ceph thing currently going on but is disk speed affected right now?
I'm pretty sure storage was wicked fast few weeks ago, if I don't confuse with another provider.

No worries, just trying to not confuse myself :D

Chris was so kind to publish my incident report:

Impressive write-up. Thanks for being so transparent and detailed. Other providers, take note; this is how RFOs are supposed to be done.

Ah, I was indeed wondering why HetrixTools didn't catch any downtime for my VPS. I guess I was lucky ;)

Down again? CP down for 10+ hours? https://status.ph24.io/ O_o

Down for me too. But my VPS is online. It had a CRITICAL on CPU_IOWAIT error out of nowhere but a reboot fixed it.
