Does Location Matter for Reseller and Web Hosting?

Hey everyone,

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on whether the server location makes a big difference when choosing DirectAdmin reseller hosting or regular web hosting.

Would you prioritize a server closer to your target audience, or do other factors (like performance, uptime, or price) weigh more heavily in your decision? Or if the price was same for either locations, how would you exactly decide between each of them?

Looking forward to your insights!

Thanks!

  • Performance, uptime, and price does matter, but so does location. I can look past location if the others are extremely good.

Let's say there are 2 locations and all the factors you've mentioned are ditto similar, Which one would you pick then? Between USA and Germany I mean.

Germany. As it's closer. I'd prefer Singapore though if there was option.

  • I won’t host website in another country. You never know what could happen. I would only do for CDN.

  • Just be an idler thus it doesn't matter.

Depends on which one is closer to the user.

  • I like to use resident country of mine, or Germany/Netherlands, don't ask why.

  • If performance and uptime are solid across the board, I think it often comes down to personal preferences and the specific needs of your projects.

  • I would choose Germany given the option, because some US servers are just super slow so I don't like taking the risk anymore. That's when I lived in the UK though.

  • You cannot leave out location for your hosting needs - it is a crucial part of your service.
