Im never buying more than 1 VPS again, maintaining and installing updates separately just took my 3 hours. Needs to be in good shape before idling.

    This is my initialization script

    It takes just 1 minute.

    That's a great thread, overall.

What does “getting idling vms” mean?

    Buying for want not need

You need it but you just don't know that you need it yet.

    Some useless stats for nerds:

    1. 8th most viewed thread (~1.1M views as of this comment, 0 to 1.1M in just over 11 days)
    2. VIP system seems to have worked to prevent too much coupon pilferage (plus the no-transfer-active-service restrictions).
    3. Thanks counter limit reached in Vanilla (no surprises for guessing who)
    4. Folklore Legendary deal
    5. Fair Share (how apt) prevented a statistical anomaly (it was supposedly very close and had the densest spin wheel and corresponding participant list in LET history)
    6. The Great Global Art Relay was founded and has turned in a revenue of +30 TB of traffic all within the span of this thread. A lot of great incredible fantastic amazing yuge things are in store. Stay tuned.
    7. A certain count was finally revealed ending all speculation
    8. Gory details thanks to a certain member lurking around here.

Thank you GC team for all the dealz and fun and the LET crowd for making this yet another mega legendary incredible ... thead.

We can sleep without having nightmares on missing deals for now.

I thought there might be some more puzzles of sorts to solve to get the deals, which would have slowed uptake in the moment but might have been an interesting experience. I still think that the deal another prvider posted a while back (forgotten which one now) with a purposefully vulnerable website to hack was very cool.
As for me getting deals on pure speed is very hard, especially when they're images and have to go through OCR before I can even get the all-important code.

There were quizzes though, and deals that did last for like 10 minutes so if anyone was really trying they'd get at least some of the good deals.

There were 10 minute lasting deals?! That must've been before I joined the thread.

Not if they couldn't register for the client portal until about 23 hours ago :(
Maybe I should have mentioned it earlier, but I am often of the opinion that companies that use these sort of captchas have them for a reason and won't be in any hurry to remove them. But @NDTN proved me wrong on this which was great. And I couldn't raise this via ticket, as the Submit Ticket page also had that image captcha for not logged in users...

Did you get a VPS from GC ? Can you state your purpose of required VM ? I do have 1-2 idlers which I am going to put on giveaway . May be you can get one of them .

Can you do that? Thought there are no transfers. I'm stuck with a big ass AZ storage that is duplicate. Of course, the one offer I did get is what I already had and I had bought it previously because that was what I really need at the moment. Didn't realize that if you buy one without the coupon it is non-refundable. I even asked for a store-credit instead of refund so they keep all the money that has been paid and I can buy something that would be useful but they are totally hard-nosed about it and said no. Anyways, trying to figure out what to do with this extra storage server that is practically useless to me at this point in time.
