A few days ago I purchased another MG VPS, this time in DE, FRA and it's incredibly slow.
That's not MG bashing as my UK, LON thingy performs OK, not great but OK, and certainly for such a dirt cheap VPS! But I thought you might want to know that performance can be drastically different in different location (and maybe on different nodes, but that I can't assert with only a single VM in a location).
Here are some randomly picked results:
UK, LON
PM-SC 246
0.33 MB/s, 85.02 IOps (disk, 4k4t)
DE, FRA
PM-SC 169
2.24 MB/s, 574.40 IOps (disk, 4k4t)
As can be seen the disk is significantly faster in DE, FRA though (as far as one speak of "fast" anyway)

Update, just for fun: I also got a cheap russian VPS (ihor.ru) with a Xeon e5 v 2 processor.
Result (random one picked out):
PM-SC 249.39 MB/s // quite close to MG UK, LON ...
25.27 MB/s, 6467.86 IOps (disk, 4k4t)
that is similar processor&memory performance to a good UK MG system and about 10 times faster disk. But OK, that's an "expensive" VPS at about $20/yr ...

@jsg I just ran a disk benchmark (yabs) at Frankfurt and London achieving 100% of the performance of the VPS. I can't replicate the slow disk performance you mention. Please see the results below.

Cute, and I understand that you want to look good - but I don't care about some (probably carefully selected) node, I care about the node my VPS is on!

Well, whatever, as long as I get what you demanded a mindless bot-like thread bumping comment for I'm content.
(a) you'll never convince me of anything with funny yabs numbers
(b) again, I don't care about a VPS on some (probably carefully selected) node but about the VPS I purchased and on the actual node it runs on.
(c) Wrong logic on your side. As long as there is even a single node with crappy performance you basically have 2 options: either shrug and tell customers that they are playing lottery when buying from you -or- make sure that each and every of your nodes offers a reasonable level of performance (aka as "sorry, there seems to be a problem on your node, we'll look at it right away and solve the problem").
Btw, again: this is not bashing you. I'm in fact quite happy with my MG VPS in London, especially when considering its ridiculously low price. My point is wrt the DE, FRA node.
I run the test in the busiest node.
We're processing Feb 21st requests, yours is at Feb 27th.
We used yabs because this is what the most people use here. I understand it's not acceptable as a benchmark tool for you.
