guys did you know if you buy your VPS at 00:00 instead of 23:59 it becomes 0,2739726027 % cheaper?

worth considering when a late deal is posted

can you explain the difference this would make on say a $10 yearly purchase?

    You'll shave off 2 cents

    For example my SolidSeoVPS

    Can't guarantee it though

Hi, Just a quick message to @NDTN regarding the image captcha on your registration page. I use a screen reader on my device (I'm blind and can't see the screen at all) and so cannot complete it even when trying to use AI to help me. This means that I cannot register for your client portal, which is preventing me from being able to accept a transfer of a VPS from @centurnse which I would like to do.
Would you please consider replacing this inaccessible image with something like reCAPTCHA or Cloudflare Turnstyle which would be accessible for me, as even if someone registered for me this is needed on every log in by the looks of things.
    Looking forward to your response.

I have turned it off for registration now. Please try again.

Thank you, the registration succeeded now.
However I can still see the captcha on the log in page and can't really use your service if I can't log in again (e.g. on a different device/browser/when I clear cookies etc).
Would you also consider removing/replacing it from your login page too?

I think for security reasons they can't totally disable it, probably just move to another accessibilty-aware captcha. Does hcaptcha work for you too alongisde gcaptcha and cloudflare?

I understand, I wasn't just suggesting disabling it but rather switching.
Regarding hCaptcha sort of, but I have to go to a URL every 24 hours and get a special cookie, so its not convenient but is possible. It also means that Cross-site tracking prevention in Safari and similar settings all have to be kept disabled which is not ideal.
So hCaptcha wouldn't be my preferred option, I think that's the same for many screen reader users.

Hopefully they are aware of that now and can fix it. @NDTN

I very much hope so. There are still a fair few online portals that are either incredibly time-consuming or impossible to register for / log into due to this, and I hope that as one of LET's most reliable providers soon GreenCloud can be taken off the list.

They said 10-20 minutes ago that they have removed the captcha

Yes, @NDTN has turned it off for registrations now which is great, and as I have previously said I now have an account and the registration after this worked fine.
However I'm now referring to the login page which still has an inaccessible captcha on it. So I'm logged in on the one browser where I registered, but what happens if I'd like to log in on another browser/device... Currently I'm stuck.

If you've got a clean IP, isn't Google's or Cloudflare's the easiest since it usually doesn't require any action besides clicking?

It's not that easy. Google's reCAPTCHA is famous for getting blocked in China so that would render a nice amount of users not being able to login :-D
Cloudflare Turnstile is also not officially supported for China https://developers.cloudflare.com/china-network/reference/available-products/

Google will also hold a grudge if you have the tiniest privacy features enabled. They will make you click on the bus 8 times in a row until you start pulling your hair out.

They will also disable the audio captcha for random reasons which really hurts the people who need them.

I think the captcha with the least friction for me is Cloudflare generally

I must say that it's especially nice to see how quick @NDTN and team have responded to such a special request. GC's support is generally regarded as one of the fastest as well and it is very reassuring to see relatively quick feedback loops even via LET.

@UnassignedIP - have you managed to grab any deals at all or is that out of the question considering you use a screen reader etc. (genuine question - most of us die hard deal hoarders know how hard it is to grab things even with relatively good abilities - so I have no idea how things work in screen reader land - no offence in my asking I hope). I'm equally curious on how you use these VMs if you don't mind sharing. It's a different perspective for me at least and I'm sure there's a lot to learn (including how things aren't really catering to your special needs).

    Thank you!

Getting deals is definitely harder, although you can often find ones which are still valid later if you look hard enough, like the Heartbeat IT €6/year IPV6-only which is still available even now (see the Heartbeat IT thread for some clues on how to find it).
But I haven't managed to get any of the GreenCloud deals here, no. Its hard to keep up with and read the sheer number of posts here when like most other users here I'm just on here in the small amount of free time I have fitted in between everything else. And scanning down with audio (and a bit braille) output is not easy at all.
Regarding usage its the same as most other users really - you'd be surprised how many of the same things I can do. I SSH in to the VPS and can run pretty much any command. So I have one set up as a web server, a couple for network monitoring and some besides their use as a Tailscale exit node/personal VPN are pretty much idle.

At least hopefully once I log in once, I'll be in for a while. If its one of those you have to log in every day systems and its hCaptcha, I'd usually go as far enough as to not use that company as it just eats your time.

    Try signing up again

Cloudflare Turnstile is also not officially supported for China https://developers.cloudflare.com/china-network/reference/available-products/

    blame china

I've never seen this, but how about a choice between more than one captcha system if hCaptcha is the one that seems to work for Chinese users.

@nullnothere said: @UnassignedIP - have you managed to grab any deals at all or is that out of the question considering you use a screen reader etc. (genuine question - most of us die hard deal hoarders know how hard it is to grab things even with relatively good abilities - so I have no idea how things work in screen reader land - no offence in my asking I hope). I'm equally curious on how you use these VMs if you don't mind sharing. It's a different perspective for me at least and I'm sure there's a lot to learn (including how things aren't really catering to your special needs).

if no I can see if one of my VM's that I don't plan on using are transferable @UnassignedIP

    For example my SolidSeoVPS

    Can't guarantee it though

    For free of course

If you can that would be very kind of you.

@NDTN - I'm sure you can help out a GC fan here with something appropriate.

There are PLENTY of volunteers (including myself) who will be happy to give away one of their precious VMs for a good cause under the circumstances.

Please note that I don't yet believe in the world-relay-domination-to-show-whos-the-BOSS contest as a good one (for now, I repeat for now).

    💚

I'm not taking part in this contest either (for now, at least).
If you do have any you'd be prepared to donate, please do send me a DM. I have lots in UK and one in both NL and DE already but less in US/APAC.
