Do we need to reinput new credit card info if the old one is expired? Oracle Cloud Always Free Tier

Greetings LET people. Wanted to ask, do I need to reinput my card to my Oracle Cloud account if the old one is expired? been using it for about a year and my credit card expires next year. FYI, the account is still in free tier and not upgraded to Pay As You Go.

They don't save your card info unless PAYG.

  • my free account is running with a CC that does no longer exist for about 1y without issues

I see my credit card info on manage payment page tho, not sure if its saved or its just there like an identity. But I'm pretty sure I still on their free tier

Yes. They will suspend services. They do temp charges a few times a year.

Speaking from expertise. Payg customer here. No limit because I’m not on free with no CC. We get servers anytime.

Why? They will eliminate free cloud one day and bill those not paying attention. It’s oracle. They fuck around.

YMMV based on your location and fraud risk
I've had one expired since 2022 in free tier account with no issues

  • I've been on the free tier since late 2021, in early 2022 I switched banks and thus the credit card I signed up with expired. No issues in 3 years.

Each biz is different, but most likely would be fine because your bank updates it for you on re-occurring charges.

No. I've been on free tier for 5 years and my card number has already changed. I think they're only taking it to ensure that
    1. you're an identified human user
    2. with a single account
    3. who is technically capable of paying in the future
    4. and not going to commit crimes using their resources.

Anyway there's no option to exceed the quotas in the free tier so ‏they don't need to always have a valid card from you.
