Maybe you should take a day off from work to sleep (I mean take care of us here - we do miss you) and rejuvenate yourself. Sometimes just being able to do the things YOU want to do also really relaxes and heals you.
Isn't there a way to by pass the UPS and run off main power?
I mean you live in (or near) Brisbane, it's a great tremendous incredible fantastic city, and I'm sure the quality of power is good enough and low risk that you can run for some time directly off the main lines.

I live in NY and rarely had electricity issues, but every so often, maybe once every 2-3 years, a big storm happens and a power line goes down (and is repaired in less than 10m most of the time). I use a UPS to keep my dynamically assigned IP address, somewhat static.. I’ve had the same IP for almost 4 years thanks to using a UPS, outside of them keeping most of my vital equipment running.
I just noticed @ttsreal changed his profile pic (I think?) and now (to me) it looks like a Green Claw.

yeah i plugged everything into a powerboard but the UPS surged and killed 3 things (shoutout APC)
head office just dropped off replacement switch and wireless controller so i'm in the middle of configuring those from backups now

Naah... The UPS network caught on to your (and @emgh 's) nefarious perpetual-packet shenanigans (what you politely call a relay) and they just refused to do any more overtime. They want diversity and redundancy to restore normalcy to how things have gone too extreme.
You're just piling the blame on the thin guy because your coconspirator will just shut off your relay and show you who's boss.
Besides, admit it, you've been having WAY too much fun over the past few .... months that statistically things had to catch up.
