@lukast__
What the fuck
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
Oh mine’s that as well nice
They use Ryzens and Epycs.
Both of my VPSes in Norway from them (on different host nodes) are with 5950X.
ah ffs I forgot about Ryzen when ordering
I was like "I have enough Gigahost nodes in Norway, I should go for AMS" 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Isn’t AMS higher network speeds though? I’m lazy so I haven’t checked
IMHO there's no real speed difference as they use rather new Epycs, in GB4/5/6 it's always similar, sometimes the Epyc is even faster.
Personally I prefer Epyc because it's more likely that ECC RAM is used, and there are more cores overall which usually translates to lower steal (even though I didn't see any significant on my Ryzen VPS from Gigahost).
But both locations have advantages: AMS has 100G, NO is an exotic location (and I'm happy to have both).
Yeah, it can burst past 10 Gbps based on iperf tests (though not sure how well connectivity is outside NL) and that's the second reason I got AMS instead.
I don't disagree, but I like seeing numbers go brrrrrrrrr (even if it's a slight difference). It's an idler after all.
In all seriousness though, NO is a great location for me regardless of how many servers I have there, simply due to the latency I have to it. Typically it's ~3 ms. There are not many "lowend-ish" providers where I can get that kind of latency.
That doesn't mean I'm unhappy with my NL choice, seeing that 20+ Gbps gave me some kind of reaction - that's for sure.

mentally strong and normal people are at the workbench at this time of the week!
Now that was a good offer...
