$5 in paypal if anyone can figure out how i can override the favicon for a whole domain using cloudflare only

To override the favicon for an entire domain using Cloudflare, you can leverage Cloudflare's Page Rules feature combined with caching rules. Here's a step-by-step guide:
    Steps:

    Upload Your Favicon:
First, you need to upload your custom favicon to your website. The typical file is favicon.ico or favicon.png. You can upload it to your website's root directory, like this:
            https://yourdomain.com/favicon.ico

Create a Page Rule in Cloudflare:
Log into your Cloudflare account and select the domain you want to manage.
Go to the Page Rules section in the Cloudflare dashboard (under the "Rules" tab).
Create a new Page Rule by clicking Create Page Rule.

    Define the URL Pattern:
Set the pattern for the rule. You can target your favicon directly by using a pattern like:

        *yourdomain.com/favicon.ico*

This will match the favicon file and allow you to define caching and other behaviors.

    Set the Cache-Control Header:
Under the Settings for this rule, choose Cache Level and set it to Bypass to ensure Cloudflare fetches the latest favicon whenever a user visits your site.
Alternatively, you can use the Edge Cache TTL if you want the favicon to be cached for a specific amount of time.

    Create Another Rule for Cache:
If you're looking to enforce a specific cache duration or make sure Cloudflare serves your custom favicon properly, you can set Cache-Control headers by using Cache Keys or Cache TTL.

    Quick Summary:

Upload the favicon to your root folder (favicon.ico).
Set a Page Rule in Cloudflare for the favicon path (/favicon.ico).
Optionally, adjust the caching rules or bypass cache for this specific file to ensure the new favicon is served.

Note that Cloudflare doesn't directly modify the content of files like favicons; it's primarily used for caching, routing, and security. You'll still need to ensure the favicon file is properly uploaded and referenced in your website's HTML.

    thanks chatgpt @komdragon

    Does it solve your problem?

no because it's straight GPT paste

yes, it's missing lot of information on how to create a cloudflare page rule, for example, there is 8 different types of page rules you can create whereas your guide just says "create a page rule"

i'd rather not waste the time going back and fourth on this, if i wanted a response from an LLM i'd ask chatgpt

I have to cut corners a little bit so no multi providers support, lets try it out on this thread first.

Should I take time to make it better first? The configuration is currently static but I am not sure how many tiers he want to do.
