    Apple has said many of these publicly, and have made many such claims under oath in court as well. Executives can really go to jail if they are found to have lied. Also, executives from other big companies have not really made any such claims, Apple is alone here. They have a lot to lose from flat-out lying. And remember, Apple initially took a hit in its stock price for not doing data harvesting.

    And anyway, it is all about the money. Apple doesn't make money by tracking you. They make money by selling devices (and services) at a premium price. Not tracking makes their devices more valuable, so there is financial incentive for Apple to actually make it more private.
