    So if I tried to use a promo code and order placed / invoice generated without it, should I ticket in and ask for it to be cancelled or just wait for it to be cleaned up without saying anything?

    You should demand the promo to be reapplied as otherwise it was false advertisting, or, you report them to the police.

    Well, at least you threaten it.

    You can always sue as well. A combination of the two works wonders.
