I'm getting another storage box for backups
What would you recommend as the best to use this as remote drive?
I don't use SSHFS anymore because it hasn't been actively maintained since 2022
I have moved from Germany to the United States. Fiberstate's network is more China-friendly than Hetzner's. I mainly use it for my personal photo storage services
Can storage box be sold as to host websites also, that uses high storage
I've been using hostbrr's cpanel host for about two months now. They've been really great. I definitely recommend them.
Been using the 500GB StorageBox in Germany. Highly recommended service 💯.
@labze is there a limit in the php execution time? python or nodejs available?
when does the german storagesboxes get a 10 Gbps upgrade?
those offeres are are always poisoned
TINE is a scandinavian / danish first name!
many people are leaving germany these days, for understandable reasons. germany the sinking ship!
500 GB HDD RAID-6
2.5 TB Bandwidth
€7/year
Solid & cheap service, I have using it for a month now.
Hi,
Which US Location? a
And is there a looking glass or IP to ping or speed test?
Thanks!
It's written on their product website itself its in UTAH, US
500GB in US is mad value
Great boxex, happy user of their cpanel and 500gb storage and both are very fast and works great. +1 for @labze. The only thing what is missing is ipv6 on their huffingtonpost server.
What are you using for photos, Nextcloud?
Did you get an additional storage box or did hostbrr move existing from DE to US for you?
I just bought a DE 2TB storage box a few days ago before this offer and haven't touched it yet, and would like to move it to US if possible. @labze ?
In December, I purchased 500gb DA Box from DE, but unfortunately, I had to request a refund due to poor network performance, which was quite disappointing. Now, with the availability of US option, I’ve repurchased the service and upgraded to 1tb, wish to enjoy a better experience. Thank you! @labze . I am glad to be back at hostbrr .
Hi HostBrr,
I recently purchased the 500GB StorageBox from your Valentine's Day offer, which was advertised with 10 Gbps connectivity in the USA. However, after conducting speed tests, I am only getting speeds of 480 Mbps, which seems far below the advertised 10 Gbps.
Additionally, the offer mentions 10 Gbps, but based on the provided LVE limits and the I/O constraint of 100 MB/s, the theoretical maximum download speed I could expect is only 800 Mbps (100 MB/s × 8), which is much lower than 10 Gbps. Could you clarify why the advertised 10 Gbps is not being reached?
Is there any other factor, such as network congestion or throttling, that might be limiting the actual speed? Any clarification on the discrepancy between the advertised speed and what I’m actually experiencing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
To be more precise, it is an image hosting service for websites. I use easyimage, which is relatively simple and does not require a database.
I bought a storage box in Germany last year, and I wonder if I can move it to the United States, which is closer to me.
You'll be surprised at the speed now (in Germany). It maxes out my connection speed. The bottleneck is on my side now.
Hmm, based on this and tomio's post, maybe I should just stay put with my current DE storage box, which I haven't touched or tested yet as I just ordered it a few days ago. (I figured I'd get better speeds from US if I switched the box to US/10G but maybe not..?)
I think it's safe to assume the node we're all in has a 10Gbps uplink an we all share that. LVE limits are there to prevent heavy users from negatively impacting the performance of others on the same node.
Various factors impact speed, network congestion, peering, or maybe other users on the node are doing heavy transfers at the same time. 480Mbps is decent enough, you'll blow through your 2.5TB Bandwidth in a little over an hour. There's also IOPS & the kind of files you transfer. Sequential transters of large files aren't affected by this, but if you transfers lots of small files, that can also kill your throughput.
I've maxed out my connection speed @ 1200mbps.
Edit: Bear in mind this was piping wget to /dev/null, I can't speak to whether or not those speeds can be sustained with the storage.
Are storage boxes in Utah ipv6 ready?
Unlikely to happen, it would increase costs vastly.
In November and start of December the networking of the servers would have been blasted due to the huge amount of signups. There was a disclaimer about that :-) Could also be bad peering, who knows.
Hope it'll be better for you now.
The IO has been increased for now. That was a copy/paste from the Germany packages and of course does not make much sense here. It is mainly enforced as some clients run local tasks that can take much IO so it is to prevent abuse.
Maybe this has improved the situation for you. If not, open a ticket as there can be many reasons for sub-optimal performance. Checks from test account show that I can download files with 400 MB/s from closeby locations.
They will be, probrably today.
Anyone have a largish file sitting in Utah that can be pulled via http to test US speeds?
Can existing German storage box be migrated to the US?
I mainly plan to use it for some US servers' back up.
@labze:
For existing 500 GB storage boxes upgrade to 1 TB:
open a ticket -> pay the rest amount -> another 500 GB will be added on the top?
Can the storage box be used with normal wordpress hosting? thanks
