    I am using Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway, quite happy with it, directly connected to my ONT so no need to use ISP router.

    Closest I got to custom router was OPNsense with multi-wan, I never got as far as setting up OpenMPTC because I don't like the idea that if my VPS goes offline my entire network goes offline, probably a way to setup a failover VPS but never bothered
