I just saw that Internxt free storage has been adjusted to 10GB from the previous 1GB。

The official Chinese website shows 10GB of free storage.

And the official website in English shows 1GB of free storage.

English version:https://internxt.com/en/pricing#billingButtons

Chinese version:https://internxt.com/zh/pricing#billingButtons

So I happily went ahead and signed up, and here's the result:

So is this an Internxt error?

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

  • I wouldn't store anything on Chinese cloud provider tbh.

I don't know why you say this, but "Internxt" is not a Chinese cloud provider 。。。。

Haha, don't worry about it, as we wouldn't want to put it on Chinese storage ourselves, the rules are too strict not to apply to the average user.

  • What's the question? You tried to fool them and you're surprised they found out you're not in China? Or did you think clicking a certain link would be enough?

  • Chinese New Year promo?

It's just not quite clear what they mean by this exactly, I switched to a Chinese VPN to try to be able to register successfully and the result is the same.

So this could be a mistake?

I don't get why. There are tools like rclone which can enable encryption on remote. It's basically end to end encryption with the key stored locally. The only thing the cloud provider sees is big blobs of encrypted data.

Reliability and data loss is another topic but if it's important you should have backup anyways.

  • My Internxt lifetime deal has been idling great for the past 2 years. No complaints. No bytes uploaded either. Every now and then a post like this reminds me that I have it.

Most likely they check your IP against blacklist databases. Even a basic IP/rDNS lookup can often reveal your IP hostname is associated with a VPN or datacenter.

  • I wouldn't use it either, have heard bad things about them on their own reddit but they have enchanced their features since Q4 of last year, according to some. For me I would rather go for more koofr or pcloud.

  • It's 1GB, they just haven't updated all the translations. The Chinese translation is updated now.
