Who was it that was using alpine on a racknerd vps? Was it @DeusVult, @cainyxues ?
What vps service did you install it on and has it been stable since using the "one step" script to install that was shared here on LET?

I was reading more about it and learned about busybox.. pretty smart idea having everything compiled into one to save space.

I want to try setting it up on my 3.5GB VPS 3vCPU flash sale deal that i got which only has 24GB of disk space. I've accidently filled the box a couple times.

Me. I just installed for testing. Didn't used it at all. But I guess @BasToTheMax used it a lot (?)

I installed alpine via the iso. Currently using about 1 GB of storage

Alright, I'm off. Got a crazy early meet tomorrow with someone interested in one of my vintage guitars.

What type of vintage guitar? I heard if you get RACKNERD laser etched into a guitar body it actually increases its value over 9,000%

Got a bunch. Most gathering dust. Hardly have time to play these days. Selling off at least 1 Gibson Hummingbird and SJ-200.

An SJ 200 and a hummingbird... Lets get dustin to give one of those away. That is quite a pretty penny you have there just between those 2 alone. Especially if they are older ones. Even brand new current year they would fetch quite a bit

Yeah, that's why it's a waste they're sitting collecting dust. When I pick up the guitar it's usually a vintage German made guitar. Very light to play, but not that expensive. Maybe up to 2K.

Couldn't agree on a price today so I'll just keep it for another while I guess. No hurry to sell.

Do you have reverb.com where you are? Not sure how far they operate or if they have different subsidiaries for other countries or something. I've bought some things from there before. Not sure how much they screw over sellers in fees though

507 Hummingbirds in the USA there right now..

    https://reverb.com/marketplace?query=gibson hummingbird&make=gibson&product_type=acoustic-guitars

Yah, reverb works here. Some nice ones on there. I rather sell directly. Get someone over to play, check it out. Plus , you earn more. Downside is it takes more time. But time I have :)

Wow! You even know how to play guitar?
My dream is to learn to play violin one day...

The violin is a lovely instrument. Has lessons from when I was a kid growing up. Now I pick it up maybe once or twice a year :)

The pivot to guitar playing after that is quite easy. Taught it myself, same as the cello.

I really would love to learn playing the piano. Never got to it. Had a nice one at some point but it took up too much space :)

Yeah, same for me. The problem is that piano is sooooo expensive it's almost impossible to get one 😢

I was gifted one at the time. It was being used at a school but they didn't use it much. Only payed for transport. It was old but quite nice. I have some relatives who play. Really love it.

But yeah, a piano is proper expensive.

that's great! Why you don't learn it then?

Maybe some day when I'm less busy combining work and the kid :)

  • What is everyone up to lately? I have been job hunting so sorry for not staying very active here. I am working towards long term employment vs freelancing. I hope that soon I may get that job I have been fighting for. And wow almost 1k pages, yall are crazy XD

Not too much, minecraft has come back into my life and have been poking around with my server that happens to be hosted ona racknerd vps..

What type of job are you looking for? What specialty/field? Web Dev? Database? Backend frontend? (thats what she said)

"Stable" job vs freelancing can give some peace of mind but it would be nice to be one of the lucky ones to hit it big freelancing..

A stable job that is either systems administration or software developer as those are my strongest talent areas, but I also am good with web development and IT/Helpdesk

I could write a book about having kids. It's different for everybody I guess but for me it's been a blessing. It's hard, it's rough, bringing up a kid in this world. But worth every struggle.

It's amazing to see how smart they get and at what pace. Like the world accelerated and sometimes it feels like spinning out of control. Where does it end? Things moved slower when I was younger, or so it feels, and I'm not even that old.

End of the day, kids are the future. If you open yourself up they bring you so much love and happiness.

    So yeah, amazing :)

    Very well said, Sara.

Sometimes it can be hard, or make you wonder what you're even doing.

But, most times? It's just amazing.

The worst part is how fast they grow up, it does feel like time moved slower back then, but now it's like the blink of an eye.

Ah fun, lots of choices then there so hopefully wont take to long to land one. It'd be nice if there were more opportunities to land in to a "jack of all trades" job where you get to touch on every one of those things. Theres enough tech out there thats its all interesting and would be fun to do. Sadly it seems like you realy have to pick one of the above and really just drill into it to "maximize" your career. Im sure theres some things out there that get to poke all of them but they usually seem to come with some opportunity cost

  • Good morning, everyone. Here we stand at almost the end of the competition. We guys have been through a lot. But, I am glad that many more members could come join us and have fun with us. Shoutout to Ben, DeusVult, BasToTheMax, DaDev and many more newer members who decided to join the RackNerd hype gang and try out RN services this year (or earlier).
Also,a huge shoutout to Blazin for rejoining the thread. We did miss FrankZ this time, but, he did say he was pretty busy during the BF thread.
Hoping to see you again on another RackNerd thread this year.
BTW, @dustinc, can we have a few more giveaways before 31st Jan?
