Alright, I'm off. Got a crazy early meet tomorrow with someone interested in one of my vintage guitars.

    How old are they?

BTW, we are just 6 pages away from 1000, guys

    From the sixties.

Woah. Why not visit a pawnshop or something that could value the asset properly?

Collection is not always about money but sentiments and mutual respect.

When he said, he was meeting someone interested in the guitar, it was safe for me to assume that he was trying to sell it. Thus, I was just curious as to why a pawn shop won't be a better option to try first, cause, some of these have field experts, that could give him a higher valuation hopefully.

I meant for the buyer and Sara's a lady.....

Since Sara (the seller) is a part of this thread and the buyer is an unknown, I was referring to the seller here. And, yes, these items do hold sentiments and mutual respect. But, sometimes, people aren't aware of the value of many items they store in the attic. Though Pawn Stars might be a largely scripted show, that's something I learned from that show.

As for Sara, didn't know she was a lady. Pardon me, Sara.

    Yes Sara is a gal

What type of vintage guitar? I heard if you get RACKNERD laser etched into a guitar body it actually increases its value over 9,000%

Got a bunch. Most gathering dust. Hardly have time to play these days. Selling off at least 1 Gibson Hummingbird and SJ-200.

Wow! You even know how to play guitar?
My dream is to learn to play violin one day...

I could but wouldn't get top value. I know what these things are worth. Was gonna keep them and leave them for my kid when she's older. She might enjoy them, but who knows. Might not be interested at all and sell them at a garage sale and someone would walk away with a gem :)

There's not too much of a pawn scene here by the way. I do enjoy watching those shows though, like pawn stars was great, not sure if that still on, was ages ago.

Like someone mentioned, they also do have sentimental value but I rather see someone put it to good use, use them for what they're intented to do.

Have too many instruments anyway. 7 guitars, 2 violins and a cello.

The violin is a lovely instrument. Has lessons from when I was a kid growing up. Now I pick it up maybe once or twice a year :)

The pivot to guitar playing after that is quite easy. Taught it myself, same as the cello.

I really would love to learn playing the piano. Never got to it. Had a nice one at some point but it took up too much space :)

Oh yes. Good of you to pass it onto someone who would value it for what it is. BTW, are you a 100% sure that it wasn't used by some legend, say Elvish . Sorry, it's just Pawn Stars effect.

We need him to appear before 999. Just his double bandwidth posts I think might be enough to carry us to page 1,000 i hope. Going to be very sad if after all this we don't even breach 1,000.

When he pops on people always have stuff to ask him too which gives us just that tiny bit more of push...

Regardless though, crazy we were able to hit even 995 pages in this thread in so little time..

We can start a Racknerd thread virtual band. I play some guitar. Mostly some basic finger picking or rythm. I cant do electric guitar solos or anything like that, mostly learned over the years from playing basic tabs

I bought a piano too at one point but havent gotten around to learning. Too many things to do. Occasionally i pick up an easy "how to play xyz" song on youtube

I got a racknerd mug as well but slightly different. I like the finish on yours, almost looks like a smooth matte type?

Yes, matte. Is there a new style? I need to collect more merch if so.

There is a new style with a newer logo. Looks like the logo on your hat but the text racknerd is moved so its going through the middle layer and all white.

I just pulled mine out of the cabinet now and it looks like it is actually a bit of like a halfway matt black & black. Yours looks much more definitively matte black than mine does. Maybe its just the photo too though!

There is a nice blue accent on the bottom quarter inch and the whole inside of mine too though!

Yeah, that's why it's a waste they're sitting collecting dust. When I pick up the guitar it's usually a vintage German made guitar. Very light to play, but not that expensive. Maybe up to 2K.

Couldn't agree on a price today so I'll just keep it for another while I guess. No hurry to sell.

Do you have reverb.com where you are? Not sure how far they operate or if they have different subsidiaries for other countries or something. I've bought some things from there before. Not sure how much they screw over sellers in fees though

507 Hummingbirds in the USA there right now..

  • Who was it that was using alpine on a racknerd vps? Was it @DeusVult, @cainyxues ?
What vps service did you install it on and has it been stable since using the "one step" script to install that was shared here on LET?

I was reading more about it and learned about busybox.. pretty smart idea having everything compiled into one to save space.

I want to try setting it up on my 3.5GB VPS 3vCPU flash sale deal that i got which only has 24GB of disk space. I've accidently filled the box a couple times.

I want to try setting it up on my 3.5GB VPS 3vCPU flash sale deal that i got which only has 24GB of disk space. I've accidently filled the box a couple times.

Me. I just installed for testing. Didn't used it at all. But I guess @BasToTheMax used it a lot (?)

    Thanked by 1Beniskickbutt
