hetzner-k3s v2.2.0 has been released! 🎉

Check it out at https://github.com/vitobotta/hetzner-k3s - For those who are not familiar with it, it's the easiest and fastest way to set up Kubernetes clusters in Hetzner Cloud!

I put a lot of work into this so I hope more people can try it and give me feedback :)

Will it work on any VPS /vm?

It's specific to Hetzner Cloud :)

  • I currently use docker compose for all my sites. None of my sites are big enough to need a load balanced multi server deployment. Is it still worth learning k8s? Any beginner resources for someone who knows docker/docker compose well?

I don't need this, but i still find it cool

For small simple apps/sites that don't need autoscaling nor advanced features, Kubernetes is generally overkill. Having said that, it's a hot skill to have in the market.

    Thanks :)

  • Just released v2.2.3 which adds support for regional clusters! Now you can create a cluster with masters in different locations just like with GKE etc 🎉

  • I'm trying to learn k8s. In this case, would the minimum charge be €13/mo (1xCX22 control plane + 1xCX22 + 1x load balacer)?

You don't need a load balancer for the Kubernetes API if you have only one master. I guess you meant one for your apps? But yeah, a minimal cluster is very cheap, although of course with small instances you cannot run much stuff.

  • I know you're excited about the project release, but... weren't emojis in the subject lines banned because a couple of years back, people were starting to spam every subject with emojis.

    I didn't know that.

I think use of 1 emoji should be allowed if used nicely.
