I have a REALLY good Dell mechanical keyboard, lovely clicking typing sound, but it's got a PS/2 connector. All the "PS/2 to USB" adapters I own are all passive from keyboard that supported USB or PS/2 and auto-detected, but this keyboard is so old it was PS/2 only. I'm probably going to retire the last machine I actively use that has a PS/2 connector soon, so I guess I need to find a proper convertor sometime.
It's been on sale at 4€ for a year (+ 2€ shipping), no one cares :(
It's tremendously dirty thought, I think that dunking it in soapy water would rust any metal in it. Oh my god I'm not gonna disassemble it to separate plastic from metal.
