I know about them acquiring eBay's indian business in a deal between walmart and ebay, where ebay sold it's share it had in Flipkart to walmart along with his indian business operation. Ebay is still independent and can make a comeback if they aren't legally bound(if they are I believe it would be for x years).

Ebay didn't try to enter again, seems their agreement prevents that.

Maybe or it just doesn't seem the Indian market worth for the comeback, I mean our policies are bullshit......

Don't know, but flipkart's actions are always in the way of monopoly. Did you remember letsbuy? I bought my first mobile(i mean with my salary) in letsbuy at good discount. Motorola defy.

They bought letsbuy and closed it. I thought similar thing will happen to myntra as well, somehow they allowed myntra to operate on its own though. :p

It's not about flipkart monopoly or something, I once bought a bunch of stuff from shopclues and Snapdeal and now my most of shopping is limited to Amazon the only reason is the big catalog and I can't find many things on Flipkart and such, olx is dead with bunch of scammers running wild there and apart from that there's just nothing better right now for consumers, the risk involvement is bigger in India for such marketplaces to survive and make a profit, it's either seller losing money or the platform. Our own mentality and policies prohibit our progress.

Letsbuy was different, it was succesful at that time for electronics. ( around 2012 iirc). Amazon didn't even enter Indian market. Anyway this was my understanding about flipkart from various forums I was active over the years. :D

i too remember snapdeal, also from what I see many things on flipkart are much cheaper that amazon so i tend to but those things on flipkart more

I remember about letsbuy and their fate was saddening to say the least, ofcourse it's how the corporation works, let's just take it this example if one of my brands are doing good for me and suddenly I got an offer to sold it for like 100x the revenue I make in a year I or rather everyone involved in my brand will jump the gun unless we have a specific execution plan to beat their offer in upcoming years or such.

Snapdeal was good earlier. Bought some items and phones. Later it became worst. With worst customer support. They sent some returned phone without seal and lots of fingerprints as new one to me. They didn't even allow me to return it. Stopped using SD after that.

I am talking about consumers point of view. How we lost some good platforms and now settled for the duopoly. Business point of view is different, I agree. They did whats best for them.
