Ah thats good to know! I have no issues with the perforamnce on mine but everyone talking about the cpu throttle got me worried. The cryptomining things makes sense 100%.. Aside from the resource hog, also using up their electric bill for your profit

I have so many random tools from there.. They are all very niche and thats the nice thing. Dont need to pay up huge dollars for a tool you are only going to use once or twice. Cheaper to just buy the tools than calling someone to come to your house and do the thing for you.
Hmm.. I want it.. but at $120.. now they are pushing it.. I always loved how cheap the raspberry pi's were and that was the biggest draw for me.. Didnd usually have huge ram requirements

My Pi4 with the full kit (Pi, SD card, case, keyboard, mouse, 2 hdmi cables, power brick) was $100.
My Pi3b+ was $30. I think the case might have been another $10?

indeed. I have older models, maybe 2? I've been able to set them up with cases made out of lego bricks and using things i already had laying around. I guess when you add in peripheals, its always been a bit more expensive

Yeah, I loved PIs because they were cheap, decently powerful, and used less energy. Though with the 4 series (at least if you got decent ram), the price jumped up a lot. My pi5 with a nvme board/etc. is pushing the mini pc pricing which will have more energy consumption but way more performance. I'm still going to continue to buy them since I've had every pi both at my place and parent's (the 5 is pending for this summer when I go to visit since I also want to swap out some networking things there) but I'm probably skipping the 16G version since I don't really need that much ram. Maybe when the 6 comes out or if they ever do a true revision of the 5.
P.S. I was highly disappointed with the pi500 not having nvme. I still got one for the CPU/Ram increase over my pi400 (shipped the 400 to my nephew). If I had better soldering skills, I would totally do the mod folks are doing to add nvme support. I love the form factor for a dedicated little hardware hacking device since the gpio is right there.
