Also, I would probably prefer SSD over HDD. HDD cones cheap though. Compared to your specs, I think I'm paying €12/y. 2G/1C/500GB HDD/5TB

    Great price. Where?

Yeah. Curious as well. @Saragoldfarb pls send

On PM... Since this is another provider's thread

Nothing too exciting, the same ol'. Deus getting some seedboxes setup with suggestions from Sara. I got a minecraft server running on a 2.5GB RN vps w/ no noticable lag. No Giveaways today. And @BlazinDimes is rackin up the notifications FAST

    Thanked by 1noob404

Thanks, Ben. So, when are we getting those MC gameplay videos? Also, how many players do you think that VPS can handle concurrently?

  • How many of us are online and available right now?

We are going to stress test with 5 shortly. I hovered around 70% cpu with 2 people. I'm also going to give everyone fly mode which lets everyone move super fast and it causes new "chunks" to get generated as you move to new map spots which is an expensive part.

It should be fine for a small group of 5 though. If you want mods you'll need more RAM.

I'm on the 2.5GB blackfriday deal from racknerd. I'm also not sure how it'll perform if other vms on my node are active. Will find out over time

  • Dustin sending out pms for yesterday's giveaways!

  • I have acquaintances across the country that want to play the server but we all have different time zones. My next project is a simple web app that will "move" the server to a specified racknerd vps and re launch the server there. That way if only one person is on they can move it to a more local host

Keep us posted. 2.5GB for 5 people, given the price of the VPS itself is very economical, imo. So, roughly 512MB for each player. As for the activity on other nodes, I don't think the RAM is shared. So, you should be fine.

yeah this works great. I think did some optimizing in minecraft since i last hosted too. You can fly and generate new chunks but it doesnt really kill the server anymore. The chunks can take some time to load in but once you see blocks its good to go. One problem i used to have is you would break the blocks and they would keep re-appearing becasue they didnt really break. They seem to have fixed it and its very responsive now

probably just custom one off stuff. Simple nodejs Powered page or something then have it just call commands on the terminal to move things and relaunch remotely
