It's very strange. In the few days I haven't used the server, I've gone from having a total network usage of around 40GB to 58GB for no apparent reason. I actually haven't used the network for many more days than it seems, so I don't understand where the 20GB of extra network usage is coming from.
Fake bandwith monitor or a delay? Or maybe it's my bad. I really don't know.

I had a ticket open for that some time ago. It is due some mess with their networking (firewall/routing) - a lot of junk reaching your interface, which is counted towards your budget.
May I know which location you are using? At least they told me it is a known issue with the cluster in Germany and supposed to be fixed with the already planned migration.

I had a ticket as well. (Germany frankfurt).
Basically, you can see in iftop, that there is a constant multicast traffic of ~4mbps from ip addresses 10.0.0.x source port 5404 hitting your network interface port 5405. Well, their reply to the tickat was this:

"We have applied some changes to the infrastructure. Your bandwidth is unaffected by this traffic. However, we are scheduled to move to a new infrastructure so the configurations will not show any traffic from other sources."

I cannot know what that traffic is, however 5405 is a well known port for citrix xenserver clustering and netsupport servicve. I guess you shouldn't worry about this, though i hope eventually this martian traffic will stop.

This's being oversold already. %steal and %iowait under sysstat is becoming insane on Frankfurt. Even up to +35.

A week ago this VPS took ~260 seconds to run a specific program, which is pretty bad but... today it took 477 seconds!! It's insane. Its performance is even below a Atom C2750 and i'm using 5 vCores... it's assumed. :/

And the network is getting higher with no reason from ~40 GB to 84 GB now.

Outrageous! How can you speak this way about a...

The No1 High Availability Cloud Provider
Mission Critical Cloud Services provided by high-availability infrastructures with built-in failovers and scalability at the most easy-to-use form factor. No single point of failure and the best 24×7 support rated 9.5/10 offers peace-of-mind to our customers for more than 20 years in 155 countries.

  • Mine was down too until I rebooted.

I am new to this VPS stuff, appreciate if someone can shed the light. The network connection is super slow. I can't fully load apps running on my server while using wireguard as a proxy on this VPS. Is this how it supposed to be? Ping to my VPS is about 70ms. So that is not that bad. Is there any way to significantly improve network routing?

Even an "apt upgrade" can take forever to complete.
The installation of the Operating System can also be very heavy. It takes forever.
