  • For those who report getting IP blocked, (@lovelyserver @Akoylini @hostnoob and maybe others), are you all using Nextcloud by any chance?

I've managed to get a few IPs blocked using Nextcloud and lot of uploads, but I have plenty of relays so I've been too lazy to open a ticket for it. I will reproduce it and open a ticket when I get time though.

I'm pretty sure the issue is ModSecurity triggering and blocking the IP, so ideally you need to open a ticket to tell @labze the time it occurs, what you were doing when it happened and which IP got blocked. That way he can check the logs, test the behaviour and update the rule so you're not getting blocked every time you do X action.

a stupid question, if i don't link a domain to the blockstorage and don't set up a nextcloud, then i can't share data from the blockstorage / make it accessible to other users, can i?

If you frequently get blocked then you can disable ModSecurity in your DirectAdmin account.

    DirectAdmin -> ModSecurity -> SecRuleEngine -> Off

You should also be able to see from the log which rule gets you blocked in case you want to keep it active but just disable the rule(s) that cause this.

You can just import your contacts into nextcloud from a local file and that'll reliably get you blocked if you have 400+ contacts! Took me a while to figure this out. Once I disabled the security alerts nextcloud was constantly triggering, the whole thing started to work very nicely indeed.

This is the list, in case you were wondering:

    210492
    210710
    210730
    212740

I didn't double check them so maybe not all 4 are necessary, but that is what worked for me. Didn't get blocked ever since.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I may have done the import by importing from the files app instead. Not sure any more. In any case, I randomly got blocked before those exceptions, and now I don't.

Hey! Any plans/possibility to add nginx along with Apache for the storage plans?
EDIT: Also, possible to upgrade to a bigger plan within the ones offered (such as from 1 TB DA storage to 2 TB DA storage)?

    Sincerely

    No plans for nginx.

You can upgrade at any time, just open a ticket for this.

You can create FTP accounts and give people access that way

One shouldn't use FTP at this age.

  • Well, that's what is offered. I didn't see an option to create additional ssh/sftp logins, though it is entirely possible that I am just too dense to see where I can do that.

    What's the problem with FTP?

FTP send plain text for authentication.

Perfect. That means I can resolve it for myself so I'll do some testing when I have time 😎

  • @labze can you enable ipv6 for da storage box? Awkward to say that I subscribed an ipv6 only vps to use with this storage box only to realize that it doesn't have ipv6. :'(

Nope. I saw €7/year and I bought lol. It is from hostbrr so I trust that he will give a reasonable quota.

    StorageBox 500 GB
500 GB NVMe Cached HDD RAID-6

Hi! I really don't want to be a nuisance but is there any possibility of completing my upgrade request during the next 24? I see no option to change priority of my support ticket.
The reason for my question is that I (of course my luck) apparently have an 1 TB SSD with bad sectors and I would very much love to be able to upload my backup.

Again, sorry to bother, I can just never have anything just work in my life...

DirectAdmin does not hard cap storage so you can just exceed your package limits until it gets upgraded.

In normal cases a user will get prompted to reduce usage or upgrade a package.

Are you sure you dont have any IPv6? You can check the DNS management for your IPv6 adress.

Yes it can, by opening a ticket. He just said that above in this page

  • @labze if I have a service on ftp2 is it possible to have a second service provisioned on another server?

I found that the "FTP accounts" created on DirectAdmin can be used not only with FTP(S) but actually also with SFTP. You just need to use port 23 (not 22) for SFTP.
