We got these running and they appear to be pretty fast. To Quote a customer:
"dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync showed it completed in 5.16461s with speeds of 206 MB/s."
Not bad at all but the node right now is pretty empty.
What did you end up going with, 6 SAS drives? Hardware or software RAID?
Did you stripe your filesystem according to your raid layout too?

We ended up going 4x SAS drives in hardware raid 10. Seems to be working well for the moment.
