@MannDude show us hdd ripping worthy meme.
Theres some interesting photos of the King of Thailand on the internet.
But I like having the freedom to travel to/from Thailand since I've been living in the region for a while so I'd prefer to not get yanked aside at immigration.
In all seriousness though, APAC isn't great for privacy, but it is great for low latency to a metric-shit ton of people. Huge population in this area of the world.
Oh, a crop top stuff.
Yeah, I don't think it's actually illegal to share. Was mostly an exaggeration on my part. Most of these countries don't really care about speech until you criticize their local governments or those running it. Then things gets iffy and can become difficult.
If the shared hosting would have LiteSpeed, I will definitely be your customer in this part.
What does Litespeed do that Apache+Nginx doesn't? We have a pretty feature packed and solid Shared setup, I think.
I'll consider Litespeed if it's marketable enough. You're the first person I've seen specifically request it, however.
God damn so many posts that makes sense, can't just pump and dump.
Well, if you say, you want to change the DC and to own HW, what happens to the current plans, if for example buy a shared plan and getting migrated later?
Its early to say, the price will change, but never know.
Pricing won't increase unless there is some absurd increase in price to us across the board.
All of our POPs are supposed to be as close to 1:1 the same in terms of pricing and specs as the others. We'd not increase the price of just one location. If our cost increased dramatically in a single location we'd probably simply reduce stock there or sell more in other locations where our profit margin is higher to make up the difference.
And, even if we were to increase the pricing it'd likely not be for existing customers and be for new customers only.
We've had zero price increases since our launch. What we have done, however, is add more features and increase the quality of the service for the same price we had years ago, however.
Example of things we didn't offer on our VPS plans when we first launched: Offsite snapshots, 5Gbps connectivity, AMD Eypcs, as many template options, as much BYO ISO storage space, VPS Firewall, etc.
I have WordPress sites and I know they are very good on an LiteSpeed server.
Ah, fair enough. Now that I'm not promoting or pushing the "Tor+I2P Mirroring" opt-in addon, which heavily relied on modified Apache/Nginx configs to work properly (and by "work properly", I mean work until an update or some other random thing broke the custom configs) it's something I could look more into now.
Would you like a test account in Kansas City? I'll hook you up with a free one week account if you want to test Wordpress performance.
I would prefer the Netherlands location but at the moment I don't have time to do any tests unfortunately.
No worries. Out of curiosity, is there any decent benchmarking scripts for shared hosting that one could use to compare hosts? Especially if tests PHP / MySQL performance?
I am using Wordpress Benchmark, it's an module which you can find it in dashboard.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpbenchmark/
Cool. Running one now.
Don't forget to post the results!
or don't as you are not running Ryzens iirc?
Unfortunately, the same stuff everywhere.
@MannDude @COLBYLICIOUS
1. While heavily optimized Apache+Ngix is great, Litespeed is greater out of the box. This is the first thing when I look for any shared hosting for my WordPress websites.
2. Litespeed has LSCache (litespeed cache) which is icing on the cake. This is the defacto cahing plugin with Litespeed and works great.
3. https://github.com/kevinohashi/WPPerformanceTester This plugin is made by reviewsignal fame Kevin Osahi. can be used for benchmarking.
4. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpbenchmark/ This plugin is however more popular.
5. Using wpbenchmark , Hostbrr @labze shared hosting package benchmark is mostly 9+
6. Using same tool, Namecrane @Francisco benchmark is usually 8.5+
7. This score on average shared hosting companies is 6-7
Enough of this , now I need that $50 reward
On NameCrane I am getting 9+ always.
I'll look more into it.
As it stands, getting a 7.8 on a stock install:
I need to look into it more and see why mixed usage of object cache is coming back as "0" when everything else is a 10, and see if I can make some optimizations here and there where able to get it into the 8's. May try LS on a dev server as I don't want to swap to it and break shit on this one since it's a production server with a handful of active sites on it already.
EDIT: The other night I began to update our CL package limitations to modernize them and make them more acceptable for 2025. Looks like I'll be pushing this update out in the coming day or two as well.
I think there's an open source alternative to litespeed called openlitespeed right?
Yes, That's what I use with all my VPS !
By the way, Litespeed Enterprise is forever free for any VPS with less than 2GB memory with 1 domain limit.
Why every Shared hosting has to be wordpress exclusive benchmark tested, nothing else?
as in for websites right? btw I didnt know about their pricing but the above one is good imo
@MannDude The VPS Firewall you mention and that I see in the VPS control panel, does that control rules on an external firewall in front of our VPS's? Or, does it control rules on our individual VPS's themselves, or maybe even the host node? Thanks.
Bump
Another one
And another
