I feel about clouds like Bob Ross. Clouds are fluffy and soft and happily drifting through the sky. Floating over some happy little trees. Maybe there's a lake reflecting the sun.
So long as the content is legal we're good.

Fran, when are you having a meeting with Hannan to discuss DC options, again?
We have a meeting today to go over some of the quotes I've been sent back.
For namecrane, some users have brought up an issue with us going to CH. If a company/etc requires "must be within EU", then CH doesn't qualify.

The people that want to sell GDPR complaint email hosting don't use us. It's @hyperblast
and others are going to have an aneurism if we don't put cranemail IN EU.

My knowledge might be outdated, but compliance goes beyond the mere location - talking about data localization vs data residency. Even Microsoft struggled with compliance or was marked as possibly not-complied, for multiple reasons. When the first and second version of the EU-US privacy shield were invalidated / the transfer of (almost) any data became legally challenging, as the legal foundation was gone and lack of oversight, amount of data collected, lack of transparency were just some problems. There is a list of ,safe’ countries, like Uruguay (😅). The US was re-added in 2023 due to the new (and kinda 3rd attempt) EU-US data privacy framework. So… people screaming for servers within the EU might just want to go the easy route - which does not mean it’s compliant to the GDPR. A provider from the US is still bound by US laws and if this new privacy shield fails once more, we will be in hot water again - and a legal battle is already being prepared by the people who killed the first two frameworks.

Just clarifying... I personally would think of Belgian chocolate but you know... Doubt they'll opt for Belgia.
