How you name your server anyways? My current suffix is <random name>.xxx.xx for memoriable, but now i have too much and im out of names now :D . Not to mention that 75% of idle i got from BF/CM/CHRISTMAS/NY doesnt even have a name

I just keep them as sasadsadsadsadas or FAT-DEALS-1442-DAFQ

In reality we got a lot of competitor when grabbing flash deals because of asdasdasdasdasdas

I think most ppl name their flash as djjdjeienejej.de and later change to proper name in excel

All good but some providers dont allow changing hostname...

    I count, I seem to have bought 18 new ipv4/ipv6(vps) in over a month? ! ! Everything's fine! :joy:

    Mine is 16, compared to 2 in 2023 and 2 in 2022

I think I had 7 in 2022? 8 in 2023? 12 in 2023? Some have been cancelled one by one.

2022/23 i lurk, so i'm only here when there's schedule flash. I believed in 2022 i wake up 4 AM to catch up advinservers at 5AM knocked out by chess captcha(fk u). Sleep again, wake up 7 for 8 AM leveloneservers and that's it for 2022.

I think I noticed VirtFusion providers actually changing the hostname in WHMCS when you changed it on VirtFusion. May be wrong but if I’m right that’s PREM.

    Example:

    ams-naranjatech-04

    I'm similar, but opposite - provider-location-number, e.g. inc-ldn-1 and inc-ldn-2 and I use these names for the VPS/dedi.

I'm actually thinking about dropping the number, because I've only ever had 3 providers where I've had more than one machine in a given location.

I normally run with an additional layer of VMs, and I name these as function-provider or function-location, e.g. dns-hyb, haproxy-hyb etc.

Previously, I had names on a theme, but the problem was that while I could remember the individual names, I could never remember which one was which. I think this kind of thematic naming works best for a roomful of machines.

Honestly I’ll stop begging @SilverCreek now as well, feels like I’m getting played.

Might create a ticket as a last try though.

I actually feel a bit sorry for the situation he's got into by agreeing to the discount. Everyone already had insanely good deals, e.g. $5/y, $7/y, $12/y and felt really good about them.

He offered a really generous gift to @FAT32 to apologise for something or rather, and being the generous kind that @FAT32 is suggested sharing it with others, and within seconds that had become 10x $2, which he (probably stupidly) agreed to in the heat of the moment because so much was going on the the thread at that time.

I know he agreed, but I think he should have just said no. Even from a practical POV, manually editing those invoices again, most of which had already been paid and issuing partial refunds for $2 would be a real pain in the ass for him. And now, all the goodwill he built up by all the cool deals he made are soured because of it.

I know we were also dicked around by the stupid code puzzle, but I don't think that was malicious. I think he saw the massive level of engagement the other puzzle got (was it Onidel? it was all happening while I was on a 4 hour drive, so I missed it all), probably thought "I know a bit of coding, how hard can it be to obfuscate a code?" and didn't realise that the operations he was doing to "encrypt" the code made no logical sense from a codebreaking perspective. Coupled with going AWOL for most of the holidays, presumably due to family obligations, that code just turned into a disaster. I was annoyed with it because I wanted the mental challenge, not that I even cared about the deal itself - and let's face it there were dozens of us, wasting multiple hours for a code that we knew was single use even if we ever solved it. Rationally we should all have stopped trying after 5 minutes.

The service itself is still good value for the original deal prices. As long as the company doesn't deadpool because from the number of deals they gave away at below cost, I think we've all got decent deals even without this stupid $2 thing.

31.14.10.1 is a sample IP address from our network.

The YABS test is below, the disk speeds are not convincing, when tested with DD and checked using CrystalDiskmark on Windows, normal values for Sata SSD are encountered. We prefer the latest hardware in our clusters. Attached are the tests with DD under the YABS Test and the tests with CrystalDiskmark on Windows side.

@ralf I agree, and yeah that join reverse thing sucked, but, two things:
    1. Nobody is asking him to refund invoices. We’re talking about upcoming invoices. Change of price, not change of invoices. No refunds.
    2. As said, I’ll stop bringing it up if I can just get a ’no’ back, but this ’soon’ and going away isn’t fair to the winners.

@ralf said: most of which had already been paid and issuing partial refunds for $2 would be a real pain in the ass for him

I don't think we are asking for refund, it is just $2/yr reduction on upcoming / future invoices. In my opinion, cash flow is important for the company and 2 x $50 = $100 cash is more important/valuable than what I proposed. 10 x $2 reduction means I/we trust the company can lasts for at least 5 years which then only it is "break-even".
