I don't cheap out on storage and psu!

Absolutely, never skimp on a power supply.

Only the best! Dont want to fry your pc

Indeed. That's the best advice I got and I give!

That reminds me to clean the dust out of my pc

Lol. What's the specs of the machine?

Its old. The only thing note worthy is a 1070ti but even that is old now

    Wow. Chief is here..

Oh yes the Giveaway man is here. Are you?

The big cheese was here but never answered my question about what cheese was his favourite.

You should get in touch with the Ratatouille Rat. Maybe he knows where the chef is.

The Chef is preparing some tasty dishes in the kitchen. 🧑‍🍳

He clearly couldn't stand the heat and left the kitchen

Some kitchens do get pretty hot. Helps to have a fan or some sort of circulation device that can create some kind of air flow to help cool the air around you

    Ooohh that's a good idea

I prefer the classic white box fans personally

You were only there 5 seconds!

No a little longer than that, 6 or 7 atleast

What did you think? More fun than here, eh? At least we have better GIFs.

what is a jif? Not sure how to share. Do you open the lid first?

I really hope 2025 becomes the year of Linux. I'm fed up with Windows 11 24H2 causing issues every single day.

One year it will become mainstream for everyday use. I still havent updated to 11 yet

  • @MrEd , what about on your stat page, when it refreshes you flash a green box around the values that changed and then slowly fade it?

  • @Beniskickbutt said:

    @DeusVult said:

    Yeah that's the thing

If you guys insist, perhaps i will forgo any future rack nerd gleam entries (maybe)

    Noooo you need to enter

Well, that would require a bit of coding, storing aome values in your browser, and for that I would have to add Consent popup... GDPR is killing here :)

Btw do this statspage consume a lot of CPU and RAM? If yes, how much?

What about handling it client side? Have people op into a "Smart refresh button". When you hit that, spin up some javascript that just sends out requests to get the latest status and apply the diff client side? Maybe incorprate a hidden page element that tells you what version of the stat snapshot you have that can be sent across on each subsequent request? Does that still count as tracking? It aint pretty though :)

Ram is unlimited these days. I cant tell which of my 100 tabs is eating all my ram and cpu :) I dont think it does anything after loading

CPU is basically idling, and just because I have enough memory, I gave Xmx 512MB, but I am sure, it would work with less. Since I have the memory, some things are cached to be faster ;)

Don’t do it, it’s a trap! I work at an MSP, and if I had my way, I’d wipe out Windows and switch all our customers to Linux. Haha!
