@beanman109 said: yeah unfortunately i got no control over it unless i go to $300+ per month business fiber link which costs an extra $5000 on my end for them to run the fiber

australian home internet speeds are set and sold wholesale by the australian government https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Broadband_Network

i feel sad, any plans for improvement from the government? or is it gonna be like this for a couple of years? being BW isn't that costly in APAC lately, we are seeing some awesome infra growth.

they can easily support it, we used to have 100/100 on the same HFC technology before we were forced to move to an NBN plan and it dropped to 100/10, later on they opened up more plans 250/25 and 1000/50 but still nothing with sustainable upload at a reasonable price

Sed the Internet connection i m using cost me $10 for symlink 100mbps, it's not the best, overused, 95%-98% uptime, but it's cheap and unmetered. Might be upgrading to something better later on, but if the upgrade comes without better upload speed i will just revert to current one.

In India? which provider is giving unlimited bandwidth don't they generally cap here

Yeah ... many providers around the world hide the caps under their fair use policies.

Still legal to call it "unlimited" apparently - since they're not completely cutting you off once yor cross the limit.

Hmmm, what do you think would be a good deal for $22/yr? I'd rather do some bigger plans now. Not sure on pricing.

    2vCores
    4GB MEM
    30GB NVMe
    8TB Bandwidth @ 1G Shared

Did a geekbench and got 1283/2296 but I expect it to be more like 700-1000/1400-2000~ on average to be honest.

    What about 7/y ?

Yeah, I envy anyone who got Gbps speed for cheap.

My last provider charged me £40 for 500Mbps, but they increased the price by inflation+4% every year, so after 2 years they were already asking £45.

Switched to another company with 1Gbps for £35 per month fixed for 18 months - I'm not even sure if they're the cheapest but I have fond memories of back in the day when they used to hand out a /29 for free if you asked for it. All their plans currently have static IPv4.

Hopefully when I renew, we'll have 2Gbps available. It was supposed to have launched last year, but almost nobody actually seems to have it as an option yet.

They might deadpool quicker than it'd take you to eat a double quarter pounder.

i think I mentioned it in one of my comments before... basically missing info / too much guesswork required so not worth the time.
