Oh I was just confirming if tou left cause you thought Flarum was not that great.
Sorry. Typing on my phone. 2 years.
Forum for noobs like you and me to learn stuff about VPS and related stuff.
wait a sec how old are you guys [just random]
I am guessing not a 90s kid then.
Not exactly audioclips. But, most of us began with something very simple and basic.
Rather not say
I'm in if top poster gets the laptop.
No doubt the top poster gets the laptop cause it's the first item on the prize pool
Have you tried discourse and nodebb?
well seeing people talk about times of 90s and 2007 I got curious 😂
Ha ha no time now. I was addicted to deals and mistakes at that time (hence my jaw dropping deals i bought). Now don't have time, and lots of telegram groups made the forums obselete (except giants like desidime).
I personally tried discourse first very briefly before moving full time to Flarum. Something about the former didn't stick with me.
Let's just say we have a very diverse user base on this thread. For example, FrankZ and certain others have been on the Linux and admin for many years. They talk about some retro tech that they used back in the day that I haven't even heard of
Of course.. learning never stops.. esp in our fields. If we stop.. we are obsolete.
Both are good but requires too much resources and ofcourse not at all beginner friendly. I tried discourse when it just launched back in the days imo was a solid one... just hard to setup in minutes will require atleast 2-3 hours before you can start configuring the forum for good.
What do you say @noob404
With AI, I guess nothing is safe from obsoletion.
I am thinking of asking that actually.
haha that's a name i missed, the name is perfect if we do some automation or post deals/coupons on niche.
No flarum was good. That was something different and modern at that time, when other board softwares looked like clutter and outdated.
What RAID level are y'all using for backups and how many disks?
(i know raid isnt a backup and that you always need to backup to somewhere else too)
i got a couple of avatars on my pc, it was right there, so decided to use that
Interesting!
That's a long time. Wow! I've been here for more or less one month only
You are banned there.. I will become mod and ban you personally
Hahahahaha yes
Currently running RAID1, might be upgrading to RAID10 with the homelab upgrade, or somehow i get more money it wil be RAID60 along with a RAID10 backup.
Nope, I left the forum softwares long time ago.
Now discourse can be deployed using Docker within 10 minutes. Nodebb requires fewer resources and can run on 1GB of memory.
