BigMama VPN Service Caught Selling User Data

  • Terrible name, but not surprised - apparently kids were using the VPN to slow their connection to cheat at Gorilla Tag (VR game where you're a gorilla & have to tag people in a virtual hide & seek like game).

They were using it to create latency/lag which would let them sneak up quicker on opponents, but little did they know the VPN was also re-selling their internet connection.

Not the first time this happened too - Hola Unblocker, which is a still popular VPN offers a free service VPN that has nodes in pretty much every country because they're actively making users devices into end nodes that are re-sold as a premium service and to do blackhatters who want to use it for scraping etc.
