Btw, Jellyfin or Plex, which is better?

my old school SMB works bettter :joy:

Samba is good as a media server. Infact, used that alone as my media and file server solution before switching to Jellyfin for media server. It make arranging and sorting the media very easy.

that is but i am not into streaming media from home, rest is handled by OTT and a JioTV instance running on my homelab, it's enough for now i guess

Oh, I am interested in the JioTV instance thingy. What does that mean? I am just curious.

it's just a jiotv_go running in docker so i can stream it on my TV or PC when needed with hls

Wow, that's awesome. Have always wanted to try this out. Using this - https://github.com/JioTV-Go/jiotv_go ?

    yup that one only

Will have to try this out. You getting all channels btw?

some doesn't work on jiotv so can't get them with this as well, but apart from that it's still a great piece of work  > @DeusVult said:

How this works? You have to pay for an IPTV provider or it's already embed in the service?

Embedded but it's geolocked so unless the IP is originating from india it won't work at all  and you need to login with an indian phone number as well.

Ooooh that's sad... I wanted to give it a try

Won't a VPN work here? Never tried it though.

Jellyfin, all the way. Plex, Ig, is better in some aspects if you buy their sub.

I see... I'm about to install it in on of my VPS to host public domain movies I like.

interesting.... got enough bandwidth to cover that? they just go hot overtime

Thats secondary. What about the copyright strike.

It's funny because here in Brazil we don't receive any copyright complaints for torrenting so I always find it weird.

torrenting is p2p no regulations on p2p for now, it's different with licensed media stuff hosted publicly, you are probably fine if you are going to store public domain media only

But like... Jellyfin wouldn't be private? It's only you that has access to it

you can set it as however you see fit, but i would still talk with the host about hosting the content there and assuring them about not to share it with anyone else if they are agree you can store licensed media as well

Anyone have a recent experience of domain transfer? How much time did it take?

fastest 7 minutes and average around 24 minutes  providing you are given the choice to approve the transfer instead of usual 5 day waiting window

Moving from Hostinger to Spaceship. Seems like it's gonna take 5 days. Contacted Hostinger and they said there's no approval required. Everything's automatic.

rigged... hostinger was always a bad news to me never used them, they also gave me a recurring plan for around 900/year to test out their cPanel based service didn't bother with them :joy:

Got a good deal with them last year, iirc. That's my first and prolly the last purchase with them.

sed, they lost one more profitable client due to LET :joy:

LOL! Might just go back to them one day, if they do provide good deals.

That is true, though, the VPS provider technically is hosting copyrighted media on their datacenters, on your behalf. So, they are as much responsible for the data, as you. Many won't bother, while others might probe user data to just to be sure that their users aren't hosting anything illegal.

That sucks imo. One thing is ban porn (which I understand and agree) one thing is monitoring harmless things as private collections of movies. That's only my opinion tho

I am not saying LET providers or any provider specifically does that. Infact, I can't tell you for sure if providers still do that. But, that's unfortunately how media copyright laws go, esp. if the datacenter is located in a country where the laws are stringent.

Hells yeah. I think about the time before I found LET and thus, RackNerd. I was paying almost 3-4x the price for hosting my projects and in turn, I got mediocre support that replied only once a day and would have me repeat the same thing multiple times.

just setup the instance on your home, set it up to route the HLS through CF tunnel, let him enjoy the shows, just ask him not to share your tunnel with like everyone he knows. you will probably get a bandwidth overuse mail if he were to do that.
