I had revived some old batteries... The backup dud increased a little and it worked for 3 months with just acid without even cleaning the plates with specialized cleaning agent... Just acid and water.

I want to try it with my APC 2200va batteries though. They both are dead it seems.

Do it 😺😺 but adhere to proper safety measures while doing it.

Any videos in youtube regarding this? yup safety is what worries me. Don't want any blasts. :/

It won't blast.... Although it can be a little warm because of chemical reaction

Now where can i see the videos to check it first whether I can do that or not

I don't know I am not into youtube should I create one and upload for you later?

    You got a channel?

    Nah... Should I create one?

It'd definitely be a good idea to do tutorials on varied topics you are knowledgeable on. Would definitely love to see the home lab.

Homelab is getting an upgrade maybe in a month or two.

Share deets. And, what are you gonna do with the older components. Or, do you just mean the 400Mbps connection you mentioned on the Megathread?

Thinking of either going with am4 as I have a spare 3500x or get some xeon e5 v4 it's hard...

Both I guess only support DDR4. What are the criteria you are considering? Moreover, since you already have a spare 3500X, AM4 might be the right option.

Will be limited to cores but fast... Xeon will be more cores but slower.... Dilemma it is...

I dunno, 3500X+AM4 seems to be the obvious choice here. Something I am missing?

See it this way, 3500x got 6 cores and 6 threads while the e5-2650 v4 got 12 cores and 24 threads.... Both will be running on ecc 8gbx4 for now.

Oh, I see that now. Forgot to check the specs clearly.

And best part for little bit more I can get dual e5s and the cores increase to 24

That's dilemma on dilemma. The last time I faced this, was 4-5 years ago when I was assembling my first PC. Ended up playing "Inky Pinky Ponky" until I landed on ym favourite build.

Will prolly end up e5, I am attracted to power so I can deploy some VMs for xpress <3

VMs for xpress? Guess, I missed some deals you guys made.

Summer host from my homelab he will buy one he said

Ahh, that's cool. How much are you selling for?

    $3 /y :joy:

Appreciate you doing this for a member of the community. Planning flash sales?

    No indian bandwidth is costly

Oh yes, that is. I was discussing the same with plumberg on the Mega thread. He's Indian as well. I think with the new data localisation laws, we might see some increase in Indian datacenters soon.

Homelab DC launching in 2030

Waiting for that. Guessing you already have a domain hoarded for that.

Better yet move to Romania for cheaper rates. Or, maybe colocate with RackNerd.

Homelab DC will be providing colocation to RN or to some summer hosts πŸ˜‰

@TrK, might also wanna check with @sh97. He has a 500Mbps connection. Check for the prices with his ISP. What if they are available in your are as well and have good prices there?

Currently I have access to 3 local fiber operators, airtel, jiofiber and bsnl out of them local operators are cheaper for same speed. Waiting for Excitel to expand switch over.

Makes sense. ALl their plans are pretty cheap for what they offer. I hope you have already checked their latency, pings and stability though.

In India network is all messed up unless you are on airtel or TATA....

    Tata doesn't provide fibre right?

They do just b2b and a different brand name for other consumers i don't remember the name...

Didn't know they even had a customer offering on the internet. Thought they were only Jingalala.

    Tataplay fiber it's this...

Oh, never heard of them. I am guessing they are good, or atleast better than Jiofiber.

Tata is a premium network Tier 1...

Ahh, I see. Would definitely move to a Tier 1 city. But, among the polluted metro cities, I guess when it comes to pollution alone, cities like Hyderabad are better than NCR. @xpress7 can comment here.

@TrK just checked their plans for 700 something they got 400Mbps + 36 OTTs+ Tv channels!

That they do... Hard to beat imo.

When you first said, I thought they were an internet-only provider. Guess, metro cities have some viable and cheap alternatives than JioFiber and Airtel.

Yup, there's spectra in ncr pretty famous for business offerings.

Never heard of them. This is the only reason I wanna be located in a metro city. I'd take the pollution head on for some fast internet.

You can try that after February...

Yah, Oct-Jan are prolly the months with maximum pollution.

Yup they are and cold πŸ₯Ά

Oh yah, dude, I am that kinda guy who can't do without atleast one whole body shower a day. But, when in NCR, even the thought of having water touch your body gives you the shivers.

And you instantly regret the descision of taking the cold shower...

Oh yes, during Covid, when I was in NCR, I used to take two showers everyday in December-January. You guys should award me with a Bravery award, or offer a Chivas bottle at the very least to me

That's the issue with almost every ISP bad routing, only tata and airtel got it better. i am more interested in BSNL's DSL cable... they upgraded to fiber here some 5-6 years back.

@TrK, might also wanna check with @sh97. He has a 500Mbps connection. Check for the prices with his ISP. What if they are available in your are as well and have good prices there?

Nah, I have a 200Mbps connection at home from a local ISP. Only that and BSNL (DSL, not even fiber) is available in my area.
I pay INR 901, including taxes, for it. Been decent, but international routing kinda sucks.

Pardon me for that mistake. Did you have a 500Mbps connection earlier or soemthing?

Nah, I go to Bangalore occasionally, and there its a 500M connection.

That's the issue with almost every ISP bad routing, only tata and airtel got it better. i am more interested in BSNL's DSL cable... they upgraded to fiber here some 5-6 years back.

this one is actually a downstream of both TATA and Airtel, but yea, its still meh xD

hmm interesting... would you mind sharing the ISP? will test the routes from my side too. And my ISP messed it up again... getting 91ms to HYD :joy:

im curious to see this now too. I cant find the link anymore and i didnt bookmark it. I tried getting chatgpt to find the link for me without any success. Kept saying it cant find any urls or image generators mentioned by deadlychemist that must include the text racknerd.

Check out any of his posts. The details should be in his signature if it's still open.

I put the download link (check comments up) but also in the bf thread
