ISO ... if you're planning to do anything custom, or to repartition your disk, that's not allowed, apparently... seems like these guys are kinda new to this 🤷🏻‍♂️

We aren't new at this, but our platform was designed to be simple and minimalistic. It's for the user that just wants to "click" and get a virtual server. But custom ISOs, BGP routing, custom partitioning, plug/unplug disks, uploading certificates and other "features for more advanced users", was not the original goal.

...or is it because of your partnership with microsoft and you do not want to get into trouble for letting customers use their own licenses / special versions under your agreement?

Because if it isn't, and if you changed your goal to allow custom ISOs then I believe a lot more people would keep servers there, instead of realising that long term that the offer is quite limited in comparison to other providers.

You bring up a good point, actually. Microsoft is quite strict with their licensing, and most licenses that users buy online are not actually licensed to run on remote hardware.

We'll have to evaluate this more and perhaps have a nice chat with Microsoft licensing...

But for non Microsoft, it should be fine...

    2) if I order monthly, can I switch to annual later after I ensure service will meet my needs? (I'll know within a week or so, lol), or do I have to commit to annual up front?

    2) Yes, although if you wish to switch to the 36 month payment, please contact our team. That 3 year option was recently introduced and it is not in our portal yet.

Does that also go for the 2CPU offer? (switching to 36 month payment)

Also, "IPv6 coming soon", when is "soon"? Don't need to know an exact date, but is it "next week", "next month" or "Q3 2025"?

That would apply to any plan that we've offered here that has a 36 month payment option. Including those in this Christmas thread.

As for ipv6, we are currently working on it, literally, at this very moment. :) A few of us are at our Las Vegas data center currently doing network changes to support it.

I'd say certainly before Q2 2025... we will post a new offer to celebrate it. :)

Hold up. Custom ISOs are allowed upon request? If I purchase a server again can I have an ISO manually mounted by support?

We can, if it's something that we do not offer as part of our existing images. For example, we've installed Proxmox and Asterisk for a few clients from here at LET.

However, there is no feature in our portal to do this yourself. It would have to involve our staff mounting the ISO for you.

And as long as it's not a Windows ISO as we still need to figure out licensing issues with our Microsoft SPLA agreement.

Feel free to DM me and let me know which ISO is it and we'll check it out.

... because our OS images contain a custom program that continuously report to our APIs the status of the virtual server, as well as other information, for monitoring and statistic purposes ...

care to share the code for that so your customers can make sure that's all it's actually doing? ... "other information" ...🫣🤔

You market your offering as catering to the advanced user with all its advanced features that you label as advanced with the word "advanced."

An advanced user came along and asked for a simple thing.

You replied by saying that the simple thing is "advanced," and that your service is for simple users.

Calling your system "different" doesn't make it special, doesn't make it advanced, and is an attempt to misdirect from the points I outlined in the 3 lines preceding this one.

Simply put, the Ticket ID is 24362-48 ... close the account, process the refund, have a great weekend... or heck, keep the $15 and maybe go take an online class about how to make it so an "advanced" user can mount an iso on their own, and operate a vps that doesn't need custom code written by the host that does god-knows-what inside a vm with our data in it. The other guys here have that figured out, maybe you can too...

Different is different, not always better.

I'll say it again for everyone here: Buyer Beware.

    Don't be a dick!
If you don't like it, request a refund and choose another providers.
too much drama for new user like you

The program is in /bin/cloudplus.pl and it reports statistical data, such as disk space, ram usage, CPU usage etc. Similar to Netdata. It is what fills the usage charts that appear in our portal.

It's also what allows for the portal's feature to install OS updates when you click on that function. The script is also used during the initial set up of the VM.

The code is there and anyone can see it (it's a Perl script) and anyone can delete it. But once it is deleted, the portal will report "We haven't heard from your virtual server...".

  • @serverpoint, still waiting for your advice on the ff.:

    1. promo discount is nullified when selecting add-ons, e.g. backup, this is the right expectation?
    2. how to use funds to purchase let promos?

    Thank you.

    My apologies!

Selecting the backup option should not do that. I will check.

If you have funds in our portal, the shopping cart was not designed to use those. But, our team can refund those funds back to your original payment method if you'd like.

Hello :) In the portal, it won't show the extra free bandwidth, yet, but be sure that internally, we've upgraded all order numbers that have been posted here. If you still have a doubt, DM me your username and I will check.
