It's frustrating that Spotify recently made changes to their Web API, revoking access for applications still in development mode. I had created an app that converted Spotify playlists to YouTube, and it was working perfectly—until, one day, it suddenly stopped without any prior warning. While it was disappointing, I managed to overcome this challenge by building my own database of songs and artists to streamline the process. Still, it's a reminder of the risks of relying on corporate APIs to develop apps. Spotify’s move definitely feels like gatekeeping.

I turning blind I read Spotify as Shopify and was all worried until I saw youtube playlist 😂😂

Yeah the words are too close. They shouldve gone for some different branding. Atleast its an an entirely different industry else we wouild have bigger problems here

What do you mean? Spotify and Shopify are definitely interchangeable. 😋

pardon me i was drunk :joy:

LOL! Totally understandable, you having most of your ecommerce on Shopify. BTW, how much are you paying them? I am guessing API is a paid feature as well?

API isn't paid... But I pay like 2.5K a month for a single store...

wow, thats ruppes right or usd? Is it based on commisson/sales or do you just have to pay them some sort of flat rate per month? Flat rate might be better if you can scale but wouldnt be nice if you dont do much in sales..

    INR

Thats what i thought. Not too bad i guess depending on how much other revune you are making. also side note trk: i feel like you are the only one with some sucessful projects in here ;)

Is shopify much better than woocommerce? I had some comments but they got lost somewhere. I had interest in setting up a little shop for family but dont realy know the best resource to do that. Something to throw up a basic shop would be nice. Dont get marketing power of something like etsy behidn you though

If you want a readymade solution that will save you a lot of headache with the setup and all, Shopify all the way. If you are ready to put the work in, coding plugins and themes and customising it heavily, WooCommerce is better and opensource. WooCommerce has the benefit of being highly customisable, but, if youa re looking for a quick way to get started, Shopify all the way.

Shopify is stricly paid though right? Im ok with it taking some time. My projects always take for ever and its not super urgent, just another pet project for family. If woocomcerce is free and open source, i'll probably check that ou first. Too many blocking walls because of complications and i'll quickly jump ship to shopify if its that much easier. Just dont want to lose to much of what little profit potential it has due to shopify fees.

Oh yes, if it's not a business guaranteed to make money from Day 1, my personal suggestion is to maybe spend some time setting it up on WooCommerce, let the bsuiness catch some traction and then make a move to Shopify.
And yes, Shopify only has paid tiers, though they do offer a free trial. Maybe just try both of them for a little while before making the decision.

i can hook you a development only store and you can play with it without taking and trial or putting any payment information.

LOL! Totally understandable, you having most of your ecommerce on Shopify. BTW, how much are you paying them? I am guessing API is a paid feature as well?

Maybe just try both of them for a little while before making the decision.

i can hook you a development only store and you can play with it without taking and trial or putting any payment information.

i may hit you up on that offer if you are serious ;) need to wait until holiday times die down though and i have some more freetime. I'll keep it n mind, thanks!

    You are more than welcome......

Not too bad i guess depending on how much other revune you are making. also side note trk: i feel like you are the only one with some sucessful projects in here ;)

i don't think so, they are just running i won't say i am getting any revenue out of them right now though...

Hitting break even though atleast? It seems like you have a pretty wide span of knoweldge and i can only imagine that is because you've had so many things actually get shipped and they see the light of day

that i can say... managing breakeven somehow...

lots of people never even reach that point so thats still an ahcievement though. All of my projects have been sunk costs. The only thing i get out of them is the learning experience. It would be nice to get one thing that can make up for what i have paid so far then i'll be happy. Happy either way i guess but the first time i see any amount of $ that can even purchase food at the least, i'll be happy
