Here 15 minute review about my discounter service from @AlexPads

First off, something happened here which has never happened in all my years of 7$ chicken.

I ran apt update && upgrade, and the system was fully up to date. I don't know how you managed this sorcery but I like it.

Pretty standard setup. I probably won't use it but it's nice that nested vert is there. At this point I'll ask for some clarification:

You advertise location as NY but yabs is saying NJ. What is the actual location? I dont particularly mind as such a small discrepency wouldnt affect me, but exotic locations can be a major selling point so please be specific

This is a super peppy server. Green text flies up my screen like I'm Neo in the Matrix. The cpu sings and the disks do percussion while the network lays down the melody and it all works together perfectly. My plan includes 20TB data transfer. Very generous.

I haven't seen alexpads around here much but his account was registered in 2019, so at least he's been lurking for a while. And I think chose an excellent time to make an impression.

A few small notes: I didn't receive any credentials with my service. I had to login and dig around in the panel to find the ip etc. Is this a conscious decision in the name of security? Most providers send credentials in a welcome email, but i didnt technically need it.

On the subject of the panel it's worth noting that I can set rDNS without support intervention.

I browsed your website and found terms of service including SLA of 99.95% but found no acceptable use policy or fair use policy.

What is your policy on networking? How long can we saturate the line? If there is an overage is it suspended or throttled?

What is your policy on cpu usage? What is the maximum sustained usage24/7 you allow? What is the maximum time we can burst 100% cpu?

    TL;DR amazing performance. No ip6. Need AUP/FUP
    /edit I suck at formatting.

    Hey!

Thanks for the quick tips, points, advice? Either way, all is great.

Firstly, we managed to update all packages since that is part of our install script by default. I don't like receiving my VPS/VDS with outdated packages, so why should we deploy them like that for our customers?

IPv6 is coming, we previously had IPv6 available in our system, however, due to the recent data center migration (the reason for our re-entry back into virtual services) it has been temporarily disabled while we bring up some new IPv6 connections and routes.

You should have gotten credentials with your service (we do send emails but don't like it...) I am looking into why no email was sent about this....

Our SLA is 99.95%. I will organize an AUP and FUP very soon (currently some things are merged into our ToS, Q&A, etc..)

I would prefer you don't saturate your network line, please be a kind neighbor. If a client ends up saturating a line enough to cause issues for other clients, the offending customers port speed will be limited (not crazy limited) but limited to prevent issues.

If you go over your bandwidth cap your bandwidth is limited to 100mbps by default. Create a ticket with us before or after hitting a bandwidth cap and we can often raise it for you (for free).

Hopefully this clears some things up!

    Best,

False alarm chief, stand down on the email investigation. You can attribute that to user error. It just got lost in the shuffle and I gave up coffee.

I assume your recent data center migration is why your location is displayed incorrectly and that you're actually in NY.

I would pay $20 for a lifetime idler that is used for nothing but YABS and monitoring uptime.

Sometimes I find it weird how providers don't focus on old and active members of communities who know the rarity of an extremely cheap VPS and therefore would not abuse it or load provider's support with pointless requests. But maybe I am wrong since I am not a provider - just a personal thought.
