Backup config/state files, restore, then re-setup on an amd64 machine; unfortunately this requires familiarity with the applications in question (e.g., where state is kept, etc.).

Choosing to host on an architecture that is not the norm (arm is getting more mainstream, but still) without having the necessary sysadmin chops sounds like a self-induced problem.

Its a deals problem I felt like I got the best deal at 9 euros a month for a terabyte of ssd,16G and 10c of arm equaling 6k in gb6. I didn't think shifting architectures was going to be such a big deal & yes i didn't realize then that the ARM vps wudn't have virtualization enabled!

If you're going to start over, I would recommend investing some time learning tooling that makes the rebuilding easier/repeatable (e.g., Ansible).

So that X years down the line, you just ansible-playbook deez.yaml instead of looking up tutorials on how to set up PostgreSQL for the Nth time and spending time debugging the same exact issue you encountered when you first set it up just because you forgot that quirk existed.

I wanna do it properly this time, thats wt i was asking in the earlier comment. Can ansible help me build containers or packaged apps that can make applications work irrespective of architecture changes ? I know docker can to some extent but I chose lxc bcoz these are basically websites that see very lil new development and it was just easier to migrate them .. Any suggestions on future proofing this setup is welcome, its basically a lamp setup with nodejs, nothing fancy... Gladly willing to learn any new tools along the way...

Lost.... I thought I cud walk in the sunset if i had gotten a vietNAAM deal but I had been busy trying to migrate my containers without success to the netcup vps i got.

I guess this pretty much ends my vps journey for this year....
