Should I just use Redis Object Cache plugin for WordPress, or should I manually setup Redis for Wordpress?

I didnt know wordpress also has hooks for redis. Fancy, but still not going to use it

Oh yah, might have to check that later. FOr now,I guess the plugin does the job well.

try w3 total cache or litescache if on ols/litespeed webserver.

Nah, Took your recommendation and happy with Nginx now. Loving it infact. Went with the Redis Object Cache plugin. Just completed setting it up.

Nginx is cool. Thats the one i use. LEMP stack.

The only difference is I don't do DB on same server for some reason ๐Ÿ˜‚

Me too for big ones. DB server, and webserver. For small customers, well, they don't spend money.

I dump them on shared hosting I sell being in sg and eu.

Ha ha. For somewhat paying customers? Indian servers?

I have an HYD location but I only promise 99% uptime in India and limited bw ๐Ÿ˜‚

Which provider in Hyd? and why 99%? B/W we know it.. no need to talk

Oracle.... ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Pay as you go utilising free arm instance and it's messed up now. It's up and been running for 800 days and counting, I think I will do a fresh reinstall next month....

Its working? i read they delete instances suddenly without any notice

800 days of uptime, and if you are on pay as you go plan they are good. Also don't do anything illegal and you are pretty much good to go.

i just cant get myself to use them after they did with my dear java

Yah, I believe I had a similar setup. Only that they decided to get me Win 98 with it, not even XP.

Why 98? I got it with XP. I used to format the system everymonth and reinstall the OS, to increase the PERFORMANCE.. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Yah, remember the time, we used to measure a PC's performance based on the number of times the XP loading bar moved before desktop loaded?

Oh yeah. I spent most of the time tuning the PC than using it. Funny days.. :p

Remember the application - SpeedumyPC and bviously, RAM Downloader?!!

Ha ha I remembered them all. And the flashy gif ads on websites with Download Ram ...

Missing downloading more RAM now. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

LOL! How many times have we been fooled by that.

Ha ha. Somehow I never fell for that though. I was mad for PCs at that time and read a lot about them. I've been reading about computers since 98 iirc, even though I don't have a computer. I love computers.

Not for the RAM Downloader. Oh no, never fell for that. But, I did fall for SpeedupmyPC.

    Those are sweet memories.

The only thing Windows still keeping from those days is the BSOD.

 And, the thing is they did virtually nothing to fix those BSODs. Instead what'd they do? Redesigned the BSOD page.

atleast its not the same BSOD anymore!

LOL! Youa re right. The new design makes it look less threatening and scary

BSOD is light heart attack anyway..

Oh yeah, especially when you have something important going on.

They happen only when we have important work.

Oh yes. Interestingly, similar amount of work doesn't cause a kernel panic on Linux.

dont talk about kernel panic! Makes me panic, bad ju ju

Never faced one on my primary PC though, I don't wanna jinx it.

Seems like a good use of christmas!

    I think so as well.

    So ready to launch mystery?

A lil bit of debugging left. On it right now.

Backend? what languages you are using?

PHP, always. Too dumb to go for Python.

Php is great for web. I use it for work.

    What framework/cms you are using?

For the blog, WordPress. No other frameworks, just plain old PHP.

    Rocking wordpress.. kk. go.

My favourite CMS. The customisability is what I love the most about them.

Yup, and they have big ecosystem too. So good choice.

Yup, a strong community means great plugins.

Thats one benefit but justwant to help foster competition out there!

Oh yes, that does. Almost every paid plugin has a free alternative.

Yah, just completed setup. Some weird permission error was blocking it. Fixed now.

    running it on vps?

Yup. Trying it on the Ryzen.

Ryzen works best for WordPress, i have seen amazing performance on Intel i9 as well.

No Intel i9 is gonna be pretty expensive and overkill for just WP.

You won't say when you decides to run woocommerce shop with thousands of products....

Oh yah. An i9 makes perfect sense in that case. What specs would you suggest for 1000s of products and a reciprocal number of orders and visits?

Atleast a redundant setup if not cluster, i9 is fast and with proper load balance and cdn it can easly handle lots of orders without any issues.

Thanks, what's the RAM like on yours?

My dedi? I don't own any I was trying to get KS-A though.... Meh I will just upgrade my home lab....

So, how are you hosting you ecommerce site then?

It's on Shopify for some reasons and will probably stick there untill I am done scaling...

Oh ok. With all talk of WooCommerce, I thought it was hosted on WC.

    Well lol ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Any reason for choosing SHopify over WC?

Hassle and me being lazy that's all.....

Oh yah, WC does require hands on approach atleast for the setup part.

Alright, or as someone else recommended, just get PS Plus sub.

I think xpress would look good wioth a shiny laptop. Hes the one that has a way to get it home as well right? You can have mine if i win xpress and i'll tv swap

That's awesome. Both xpress and TrK would have to ship it to India anyways.

I do a lot of router mods, let me know if you ever need assistance.

I need some advice on OpenWrt on my Netgear 7500v1

Ooooh, HMU on Discord and I got you. I can't maintain a proper conversation on that topic here with all the noise.

Go go go no openwrt for xpress

Ha ha. Already installed and running it. Just need some suggested config..

    Install transmission and do torrent

Had it on NAS. Removed after one drive died. Always felt the Transmission was the reason for my drive failrue in the wdcloud.

I doubt it was due to transmission, can be something else entirely hard to figure out....

Entirely possible depending on the amount of torrents running, they're extremely heavy in I/O operations. This is made worse by running it on a SOHO router.

Sad then. I killed my drive and data with my own hands. :(

Is the drive actually dead? Or just the controller in the USB enclosure?

Well, SMART showed errors, and then WD clodu showed drive error. And also if I put it in NAS bay, it is making some weird noises.

I removed it and runninig with only 1 drive now.

This most probably means an issue with the little hand like things that actually read the data on the platter. Sometimes, replacing them fix the issue, at other times, you might actually have to replace the BIOS chip and write the old data to this one.

Maybe formatting can do something? Give a clean wipe to all sectors?

He said it's making clicking sounds. So, I don't think it can format at this stage.

    If doing Woocommerce then perhaps...

Woocommerce itself is a bad idea.

But it works if it works......

I don't know, I don't like it somehow. But normal customers feels different may be. Once I used OpenCart, magenta etc for testing.. But somehow, woo feels heavy

It is heavy, but if you strip the front end and use it as backend things changes drastically. After the introduction of wpgraphql even I find myself tempted ๐Ÿ™‚

And you need to build a front end of site?

That's how it goes, build one in vue or react and you get one heck of a fast web shop.

In that case, we have lots of options.

Yeah thinking of atleast trying it out. Before recommending it to someone

the hard part sometimes is that trying it out can sometimes be a lot of work on its own

Cool.. you'll use it for more prjects.

    Yeah second this...

Yup, I think we will get one more in the afternoon. Anyway we got plenty of time.

That we do. Let's hope for the best.

I really wish the sweaters have international shipping. Missed that. What did you do? converted?

Yeah ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… you know me well enough ๐Ÿ˜‚

What other option we have. So you must be richest after noob in our racknerd gang.

Well don't know about that so can't say much ๐Ÿ˜œ

Oh come on. No tax department here. how much you have? :p

Currently it's sitting a solid $40 in my RN account.

What? you've hidden the arcade machine price here. :p

    Well it's under talks....

Oh k. I thought the doors closed, as you didn't mention anything about that agian. All the best for you then.

I doubt it will go other way than credits

    I mean, discussing with dustin?

Yeah with him only who else?

    I thought Frobsy

The deal broke down sed ๐Ÿ˜‚

He's gonna ship it to Algeria? Or, credits?

I think not credits, as TrK will give him credits anyway.

Yah, maybe he will sell the arcade in the US as TrK mentioned.

You mean TrK sell? or Frobsy

TrK said Frobsy would accept the iPad with the help of someone in the US and sell it in the US itself for some money.

    Seems good idea.

    modern problems require modern solutions

TrK recommended both Memcached and Redis, but did say Redis was better. Noticed a few ms difference for the better with Redis. That's why I decided to stick with Redis. Might notice a hell lotta difference after large data is populated.

    Redis is better.

Yah, just realising that as my data increases.

Cool.. you'll use it for more prjects.

Using on 3 projects for now, on the same server. Will add for more where there are constant MYSQL calls

How many projects you have man.

3-4 mini-projects for now. All will be made clear in a few days.

    Developing all parallelly?

Yah, as I said, for your standards, these are mini-projects. For me big though.

    what projects though?
