slightly on-topic since at least one of the offers has been for a dedicated server - how are people using all these single-disk dedicated servers? the prevailing vibe does not suggest that everyone is building elaborate systems with automatic failover between machines, so are people just accepting hours/days of down time as the provider replaces a disk, vs at least scheduling some short downtime for replacement if you had a mirror?

Which offer did you see for a dedicated server recently that too with a single disk?
How do you get the vibe that folks are not building systems with failorlver/ disaster recovery plans?
Usually, all my dedis come with more than 2 disks. I configure RAID and set up periodic backups for important data, as RAID isn't a backup.
For a single-disk system, it's basically "YOLO." Wait until your provider replaces the disk, or use tools like smartmon to monitor disk health and check for any sector errors in advance. Request a disk replacement before the entire disk goes kaput. You've to accept the downtime.
Have a meeting now so most likely gonna miss it but good luck to everyone else!
More hints?

Vietnam has just launched its new law about Internet and it will be more like China, so I don't think the server can last for a year long. > @onidel said:
Oh it's 369
Nice
Oh, this is the first time I've heard of it.
