i'm biased as fuck towards the orange pi zero 2W cuz it's so small with an actual decent amount of cpu power packed in
nanopi stuff is pretty good from what i remember, i've only got a neo3
radxa stuff is good for a slight more premium price and way more armbian support
also run armbian most of the manufacturer provided OS's are dogshit unstable
One small click for you, one giant leap for my thanks count... 5555, baby!
Now, any sweet 5555 deals?
P.s - No moon landing reference btw
I use secretive for ssh keys, wonderful program for mac
i've got one that runs my flightaware radar with an rtl-sdr plugged in
another runs my home assistant / homebridge instance, makes it nice when i need to restart it i don't have to log into proxmox or someshit because it's not a vm i just unplug it plug it back in
edit: also have multiple high spec ones setup as adguard dns servers
LowEndTalk Providers after being harassed for deals:
I'd say they're not really worth playing with unless you have a specific low-power use case for it. The older rpis actually had decent video encoding for camera use, but I think the later ones are all software only.
Also, if you want lots of GPIO and like using Linux rather than just using an embedded chip like esp32 or stm32 etc.
People do use them for desktop use, but TBH if that's what you want, you're probably better off getting an N100 small PC instead. It'll just work without days of dicking around. Unless you like doing that, in which case, you'll enjoy it!
600+ messages. I'm even scared to ask what I missed
You missed reading those 600+ messages.
In fact, there are also Banana Pi and Mango Pi, but they are not as famous as Raspberry Pi and Orange Pi.
c'mon @ShockHosting add LET in there

yeah i've seen both on aliexpress but stayed away from both brands due to minimal armbian support
I forgot to say if you do just want a webcam or whatever, they're great because they have all the weird hobbyist ports like CSI and DSI.
oh yeah i also run 2 GPS NTS time servers on two others
retiring for the night. wait to get deals another day
The raspi I tried to run the VM on is connected to a PC and emulates an usb keyboard so that one can remotely enter the disk's encryption key, and it's connected to the power switch so one can switch the PC on if it for example crashes.
Maybe there was one deal somewhere in the middle of them. You can't really be sure unless you check them all...
(Who am I kidding?)
519ns accuracy
I might have to get a Radxa X4. N100 based but still low wattage.
Radxa Rock5C Lite YABS (with 2 extra A76 perf cores unlocked)

Guess I have never been that interested to tinker with hardware though I have some boards from Kickstarter (don't remember which).
Maybe time to dust it off and see thr loot and figure out something to do...
I truly didn't not have any usecase except thinking I'll make the next breakthrough and mint billions $$$
Guess that's not gonna happen anytime soon...
Have another rpi 4 sitting somewhere too. But have a nuc that serves my purpose so far...
@beanman109 you are definitely a great enthusiast along with @ralf and @lukast__
That's one beefy machine
I think I left it idle for a while, and I remotely restarted it 4 days ago.
I have one in front of me right now
It's nice but haven't found a use for it right now other than emby/jellyfin transcoding with the N100
If you buy one, get the heatsink fan/case that Radxa sell, it's almost unusable without it
Yeah, I'd heard that. do the production ones actually make contact with the chip? The preview ones didn't. I'm hoping to be able to run HomeAssistant and Openwebrx on it.
Yeah, all the other fruits jumping on the bandwagon. I've not tried any, but they are easily available (which sounds like a minor thing until you actually try to buy an rpi) and seem to be better value for money on features, but I get the impression that they are churned out with a single working image and then people left to fend for themselves.
Oh, and unless things have changed, in the arm world every device has a different device tree and different ways of accessing it, so you need a distro specially built for your device even though really only the bootloader and kernel differ.
