    Yah, at times you get so damn used to it, that you become delusional about it being perfectly healthy. Most of the times, it's not.

    I slept like 2 hours a day for an entire week. :(

    I have done that during exams.

    This is triggering PTSD flashbacks. That period of time was nearly erased from memory

    LOL! Somehow, I would love to go back to those days.

    It's actually fairly easy to reassemble in most cases, unless you don't desolder anything.

    I am bad at hardware soldered hardware.

    Me as well. I try to stay away as much as possible, but recently I have taken an interest to it

    Its really satisfying. gives you a taste of how things work at an even finer level

    Moreover, hardware nowadays is sturdier. So, you have to be extremely inexperienced or careless to cause irreversible damage.

    Reassembling it would be a challenge in itself. BTW, so kind of you to even consider it. At times, with Indian customs, it doesn't even matter, if it's used, broken or brand new.

    It's prolly not just training. Unclear policies could be a very good reason for the uncertainty.

    Good reason for them to earn a lot from the loop holes.

    "Not a bad" is an understatement. That laptop had great thermal management (both hardware and software) for the price it retailed for.

    Oddly enough the reviews from Best Buy said the exact opposite, but I snagged it anyway and mine is excellent still to this day. Probably fixed the cooling issue with a BIOS update by the time I purchased it, I guess the fans weren't kicking in when they should have been?

    I was able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on it with no problems when it released, when people with much higher end hardware were complaining of constant problems, so I was happy with my choice.

    I see, maybe you got one of the very first generations. Pavillion series you own was later famous among gamers for badass thermal management.

    What did you ahve to solder on these? usually they are good to go

    Soldered UART cables on to them to get Shell access

    Nope. Thats why I prefer a PC. Most developers I've seen like the MacBook pro though. I do like the looks of it. But non upgradability is meh for me.

    It's upgradable if you get the right tools, right replacement chips and a sure fire way to temper with OS core....

    I think someone who has to work to earn, and spending on MacBook to work, will not have that much time to put that effort. :p

    That's why we see more macs in garbage dump.....

    Let's hope for the best. But, can't say for sure, since Indian customs is known to be volatile.

    what issues do you usually have with them?

    Mainly, taxation without a proper base to it. They can charge you virtually anything they feel like.

    Had it on NAS. Removed after one drive died. Always felt the Transmission was the reason for my drive failrue in the wdcloud.

    Mainly junk food. Soon, I am also gonna take sugar off my diet and maybe use honney or jaggery instead.

    It's actually fairly easy to reassemble in most cases, unless you don't desolder anything.

    As long as there is no soldering, that would make it way easier

    Nope. Thats why I prefer a PC. Most developers I've seen like the MacBook pro though. I do like the looks of it. But non upgradability is meh for me.

    It's upgradable if you get the right tools, right replacement chips and a sure fire way to temper with OS core....

    I think someone who has to work to earn, and spending on MacBook to work, will not have that much time to put that effort. :p

    That's why we see more macs in garbage dump.....

    "Not a bad" is an understatement. That laptop had great thermal management (both hardware and software) for the price it retailed for.

    Oddly enough the reviews from Best Buy said the exact opposite, but I snagged it anyway and mine is excellent still to this day. Probably fixed the cooling issue with a BIOS update by the time I purchased it, I guess the fans weren't kicking in when they should have been?

    I was able to play Cyberpunk 2077 on it with no problems when it released, when people with much higher end hardware were complaining of constant problems, so I was happy with my choice.

    I see, maybe you got one of the very first generations. Pavillion series you own was later famous among gamers for badass thermal management.

    I have an old Compaq sitting in my mom's garage somewhere, probably only a handful of years newer than that IBM Thinkpad. I should go get it and see if she will still boot.

    Oh yah, completely forgot about that. I was talking about the amount I was quoted for a low end laptop when we got our first desktop PC in 2004. They quotes us 60K for a low end laptop.

    not a bad deal in rupees

    Back in the day though that was an amount of luxury for us.
