I know it's not physical tech, but I once built a fully functional clock in Minecraft.

    How did you do that?

    Complex Engineering

Well, have never played Minecraft before. But, the functioning of the clock, did you code it in Java?

Oh, friend, no this is built with items in the vanilla/unmodded version of the game. With redstone you can make some crazy circuits, most people shy away from it though.

I haven't yet played Minecraft, but, doesn't seem easy to make a functional clock. Kudos.

Thank you! It was quite the undertaking, but I had a lot of fun doing it. If I still have the save file I'll get a screen recording from my Xbox.

Sure, do share it if you have it.

Just because you're interested, I'll fire up Minecraft right now and check. It probably doesn't work due to updates they have made in all of these years, but the structure should still be there. I just hope it wasn't lost in the transition to the newest version.

Man you have everything at your fingertips?

You must be great at organizing things.

Found it, and it does function! I forgot I went back and switched from a complex solid state circuit to what is basically the Minecraft equivalent of, hm how do I explain, like a cylinder that is like an HDD but also like a punch card? You'll see in the video.

Yeah I use a flat world with no terrain or biomes for redstone testing and creation as it is much easier than trying to build on all the hills, or clear them.

What you're seeing as "space" is just a flat desert area, works nicely for visibility.

Yeah the clock works, as you can see, I could make it run realtime but I have it sped up for showcasing how it functions.

Found it, and it does function! I forgot I went back and switched from a complex solid state circuit to what is basically the Minecraft equivalent of, hm how do I explain, like a cylinder that is like an HDD but also like a punch card? You'll see in the video.

I made it a GIF, here she is.

Another test clock I setup with only 2 digits on the display, using a mix of solid state and non ss memory.

Wow that looks awesome man. How much time it took to build that?

It was around 2017, so I don't remember exactly, but it definitely took a considerable amount of time. Probably quite a few hours, spread over a couple days.

Thats great. I liked the space theme (or whatever it called in miecraft). Starry background and land looks like some buildings on moon.

Yeah I use a flat world with no terrain or biomes for redstone testing and creation as it is much easier than trying to build on all the hills, or clear them.

Don't understand some terminology there.. but I like the look there..
A space clock. The clock works?

What you're seeing as "space" is just a flat desert area, works nicely for visibility.

Yeah the clock works, as you can see, I could make it run realtime but I have it sped up for showcasing how it functions.

I take it as desert on moon. It looks like that from some movie.. :D

How the clock works? like in realtime? you have to code?

Goodnight noob! We will miss you in your absence. Hurry back!

Woke up early again. My sleep schedule is all messed up.

Never a bad thing, eariler start gives you more time to do what you need to do

It does, but, I am not exactly a morning person.

I get it, I have never been able to adjust to mornings either. One day I'll get it figured out but that has always been the hardest part of adulting. Im not sure how others make it seem so easy. Maybe they are just better at hiding it

  • Hey whats up! Good afternoon!
